Best .22 pellets for rats that don’t blast through

Ditto the wadcutters. At those velocities there won't be much expansion anyway. My PROD
loves the JTS wadcutters. My 1322 likes the Apolo 17 gr. wadcutter.
You don't need full penetration. Ideally the pellet will come to a stop just inside the skin on the far side.
Try pumping the 1322 less
What about the prod? Can I tune it down or I’m better off with the 1322?

N/A  Who is Ahead in PCP Air gun Technology?

After buying a Western Mordax Venom I'd say it's nothing short of a modern marvel - precise, reliable, capped 15 shot removable mags, semi and full auto, compact, lightweight, and what it comes down to is the most fun airgun I've ever had. It's a flat out innovative piece of engineering.

Topped off with a equally amazing and very appropriate scope and I'm over the top happy with the combo.

30-Yard Challenge

Jim, scores getting in high 190’sconsistently. 😀

My Taipan .22 Vet 2 long likes the AEA 21.9g at 910-925 FPS range. Have shot a 200, a few 199’s and a couple dozen 30y targets in the mid to upper 190’s with this velocity. These have been previously posted in this thread. I shot it at 850 once, and the gun was set up by Tony to shoot 21.9g at 910 fps.

At these velocities my ES values are typically less than 15, with many strings under 10. Pretty consistent shot to shot values.

It’s a heavier pellet for most of our .22 cal 28-32 FPE rifles, but they are great quality and they seem to do well on the 30y and 40y challenge cards for me.
Thanks Tommy. I will try a few more targets at my current tune and if I am not OK with how it's shooting I will probably raise the regulator. I don't know if it will shoot better with them going faster but your experience is good evidence they do not mind going faster. The reg is only at about 105 bar so I have lots of room to increase it. It will mean more frequent refills, however. Thanks again.

FX DRS Tactical - My first Post

Thanks! Mine is at 115 bar now. They definitely messed around with the hammerspring and reg pressure settings when it was in for repairs then.
The more I tinker around with the gun, the more I'm finding FX knocked this one out of the park, why I've decided on the Leopard 700/22 and to sell my Impact. I saw the claim of 75-80 shots with 15.89 at 900. Its more than true. last night I lowered my regulator to 80-82 bar. I'm at very very low hammer spring settings. over 80 shots at 895 fps with the Jumbo Exact, Considering this is being used as a close to medium range bird/squirrel zapper that's perfect. I've ordered a good amount of light projectiles. the Benjamin 14.3 single die, jumbo exact, Atomic/Hades. Im buying the DRS pro base and dropping into the tactical furniture. The DRS/Dynamic system is really a step up for FX. Great system.

Air arms s510 hammer spring?

The S5** platform doesn't have an adjustable hammer spring. Modifying/replacing the spring is the only option on that front.

The reg is adjustable, but there's the possibility you could over or under adjust it and throw things out of balance.

The quickest, most easily reversible, option is changing the spring and see what happens. You could buy a replacement "FAC" spring, cut half a coil off and see if that drops the power enough. Keep cutting till you get it where you want. If accuracy goes to crap, at least you can put the original spring back in.

Huma makes a drop in regulator. You could get one and play with its settings to see if it works for you. Leaving the original unmodified...

The S500 is not an easily tuneable system. You gota empty it every time you want to adjust the reg. No hammer spring adjuster too.

I went down the tuning rabbit hole with mine. At the bottom I found they shoot great right out of the box, and trying to "improve" it didn't really gain anything. Although, you can make things less good pretty easily...

Daisy  Who Made Daisy’s Stocks?

Here are three Daisy rifles. Two 753’s and one 853. The 853 stock is made of Elm. One of the 753’s is of Tiger Maple. The other is “I believe” made of Honey Locust. It’s a wood I am unfamiliar with. Heavy, bright in color, oily, and has a different grain pattern. Check out the end grain. (last picture in the center) Also, It appears to me that all three of these stocks came from different manufacturers. All machining is quite different. The Elm stock is by far the thickest. Followed by the Tiger Maple stock. Then the Honey Locust. Different in every way. Checkout the pictures. Any other opinions on the Honey Locust? I’m not settled on it yet.

Airgun Technologies  The Future of Springers – Are We Still in the Game?

Based on guns like Discovery/Maximus, and other similar rifles, it seems that a company can build and sell a reasonably shooting PCP than they can a springer of the same power. So I think springers will segregate into two markets, the higher priced niche guns that a few still enjoy until the purchase numbers don't justify production; and the walmart "looks like an airgun" group.

After shooting airguns for a decade plus, I have reached these conclusions for my own particular shooting:
I'm not much interested in a springer over 12-13fpe, certainly not 20+fpe. If I want that power I will go to a PCP.
I'm getting to where I'm not even much interested in a .177 PCP over 12-15fpe. It's pretty much a paper puncher, if I want more power I usually reach for a .22 PCP.
If I'm going to buy a springer I'm going to buy a good one. I really love my Beeman R7!

Benjamin  All NEW Benjamin G3 Marauder at the PA Cup!

Any details on the spring gun that was on the bench? New gun or one already in production?

Those BSA barrels are awesome for pellets. Ive got 4 BSA pcps still and they're all tack drivers.
Do you know what they were using to shoot at 100yards? Would be great if they changed the choke for slugs.

Other  Walther LP400 regulator pressure

This is my LP400 pistol which has undergone a major surgery to have all the O-rings replaced. Unfortunately it's still leaking so there will be more work to do ..... At the inner side of the regulator , there is a hand-written number "70" and the pressure guage marking has the color changed from green to yellow at 70 bars. Can it be safely assumed that the factory setting of the regulator is 70 bars ? Walther is not responding to my email enquiry.
