Yong Heng compressor cooling mods

It's warming up here now and I got a better run to determine the benefit of my second computer radiator. A run last year in April was at an ambient temperature within a degree of today here and started and ended at a little lower pressure. But close. The highest temperature of last year's single radiator run was 61 degrees C. Highest temperature of todays run was 57 degrees C. Not a big change but about 4 degrees C with is about 7 degrees F cooler. I did not use any ice in either run. I did have noticable water in the little stock filter which I consider a pre-filter in my setup but the dessicant beads have not changed color so they are not seeing hardly any water. I vent about every 5 minutes and I think that gets most of the water. The second radiator may let me stay below 60 C without ice but if it does it will be close. But dropping in a couple frozen soda bottles is not a big deal and there is nothing magic about 60 C either.

My cooling mods are a larger water pump, water wetter in the water, two computer radiators with fans and a 8 inch fan blowing across the motor. Nothing on the coolant lines. My setup is not very portable but serves me well. I have a GX CS2 now which is very portable.

Daystate  First Daystate ... Wolverine HP R in .22

Daystate added that “feature” - can’t decock - to the Wolverine R and Wolverine R HP around 2020.

I believe Earlier Wolverine Rs were able to be decocked.

Interesting - perhaps I’ll stick with the stock hammer in my Renegade HP…

Factory unregulated tune it was a beast 895 to 932 to 895 over 30 shots with 34g.

I installed a lighter hammer spring and got a nice unregulated string over 40+ shots - power peaking about 165-170 bar.

Then I installed a Huma reg (still using my lighter spring) and dialed it at say 162 bar and it shoots 25.4g JSB at 925-930; 30g JTS at 880 and 34g JSB at 840… Damn happy with that. 1st spring I tried (sometimes you get lucky, lol), but I have a lot of experience on other Daystates and a small mountain of 18mm springs of various wire thicknesses and lengths.

My .25 rifle has a damn accurate barrel, the electronic trigger on the Renegade is excellent for my target work, but even with the lighter hammer spring I can feel some harshness in the shot cycle from the hammer strike…. this is what I thought I could improve with the slingshot hammer.

I’ve even thought about swapping the barrel and probe on my .25 Renegade HP and .22 Wolverine R HP. This would put the .22 on the Renegade with the smaller air cylinder and the .25 on the Wolverine which now has a 580cc bottle. I’d still have the same thought of putting a SSH in the Wolverine if converted to .25.

As I’m just target shooting, I don’t need/want high power to punch paper, but I do like the HP Daystate barrels as they are polygonal and seem to shoot a variety of pellet weights well.

One other feature that draws me to the SSH is the adjustable length of throw to tweak velocity, rather than shimming the hammer spring (I’ve got 1mm and .5mm washers that fit perfectly on my spring “top hat” guides that allow very precise shimming).

Any thoughts on either what to expect from using a SSH on .25 Renegade or even thoughts on swapping calibers across Wolfie and Renegade?

Looks like you have a very good handle on these rifles.
As mentioned above , they just don't have much plenum so it's going to be a struggle to get them very pumped up. In 22, the Wolverine taps out at about 47 ft lb in stock guise. It's not going to be a lot better but you're pushing the 25 cal to 52 ft lb in the Renegade so that is PROBABLY achievable in the Wolverine... it's just not going to be more. The unregulated ones seem to have more air flow so maybe can achieve a bit more power. I really don't know that the SSH is going to be less harsh because the primary use is lower power and the behavior is definitely nicer there.
I did try to get 52 ft lb out of a 22 Wolverine R and the SSH gave a VERY sharp transition from 48ish ft lb to 49 and would not make 52 at all. The behavior went from reasonable @ 47 to UGLY at 49. Now I know that a couple of tuners have ground on some stuff to increase flow efficiency and gotten up to 52ish but is it worth it?... there's still not much plenum.
I think I would investigate damping the strike cycle with the BStaley mod concept or button the hammer, etc., rather than the SSH but MAYBE you are onto something there. It just has limited strike energy vs a straight hammer system...
Also, imho, the main reason to focus on power or velocity is to try to get pellets into their respective best accuracy performance areas, not just energy itself. I generally shoot for about 31 to 33 ft lb with 18 gn pellets, 52ish ftlb with MRD's in the poly barrel or 60 ft lb with the 25 cal, 33.4s, as I've found my best performance in those cases. Doesn't mean that other velocities aren't good and will be VERY barrel dependent.
Also, for anyone trying to read something into this, I'm NOT a power monger and am perfectly fine... very happy even, with the Wolverine performance... just wouldn't chose it if I really wanted to LAUNCH something...

FX  M3 or king?

I've had both the King and M3 Sniper in .30 cal. The King with the moderator is an absolute broom stick. I still used it for hunting but the length does require some extra attention.

As far as power, I added the Huma slug kit to both. The King was more comfortable shooting the 50+ grain slugs while the M3 liked the FX Hybrid slugs and heavier pellets better. The King pushed around 120 ft lbs of energy with 59 grain Zan slugs and the M3 was around 106. Both very, very accurate if you take the time to tune them.

I ended up recently selling the King even though I loved the rifle, the massive length sucked for what I was using it for. I still own the M3 for now. If you are going to be shooting from a bench, or window, the length won't matter. The King seems to respond better and have higher capabilities as far as more power without too much fuss. I know the M3 is capable of more power than what I was getting but I just felt it was pretty close to max for the way it was set up.

RTI  Tell me about the original Prophet Performance

I liked it as an inexpensive and excellent shooter, but I am not a fan of the layout.

My review here: https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/rti-prophet-1-i-like-it.1320416/

I addressed several of your questions.

It had a worse reg than any Fx I’ve owned, and had to replace it with a Huma due to the 20bar reg creep. That being said, I could shoot off the overage creep and be ok for the session. The Huma was more consistent though, but took longer to fill.

Side lever wasn’t wobbly but was more awkward and required more effort than I am used to and could only be on the left side. I wasn’t a fan of the left side. Also, I did have an issue where the bolt didn’t close once (never happened with any other rifle) and when I fired crap went up in my face and my ear was ringing for a while).

That leads me into the mag in your face. Not a fan of this at all. The disaster above was scary. I was able to put on a 3D printed cheek riser to make the rifle more comfortable, but with the mag right there, I couldn’t wear glasses without them hitting the mag. (Everyone keeps saying setup further back, but the length of pull isn’t adjustable and you only have so much room to set up back there.)

Excellent shooter, but I won’t go back due to the mag placement.

Hatsan  Hatsan Flash-R Repair

Well, I have an update! I didn't hear anything back from Hatsan after the e-mail I received this morning. In that e-mail they mentioned using rubber in the vice and a big Phillips head screwdriver. So, in one last attempt, I wrapped the aircylinder with some rubber weather stripping I had laying around, secured it in the vice and used the biggest Phillips screwdriver I had, and off it came! I didn't even have to apply any heat! I replaced the o-ring, but it back together and aired it up to 250 BAR. So far, no air rushing out like before and I can't hear any air leaking when I put the fill valve near my ear. It's now fully reassembled and will sit overnight to see if hold air or if there is still a slow leak. I'm hoping for the best!

Shooting Sticks

I saw mine the other day. Two Oak sticks with a bolt thru the middle (several holes for adjustment), felt on the inside, spikes on one end. From my days shooting Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette...prone or sitting.

I just went out to the Garage-Mahal to take a pic...but couldn't find them again!
Edit: found 'em!

RTI  Tell me about the original Prophet Performance

I've been reading everything I can find about the Prophet Perfromance first gen, and can't find what I'm looking for. I'm jonsing to buy one in 25cal and want to know from those of you who have them.
Are they comfortable to shoot? They look like the sharp edges and the mag sticking up would be uncomfortable, but from videos, and reviews, no one seems to want to touch that aspect. Also, I think there was some complaints on the sharp edge of the receiver at the top of the grip that digs into your hands. Is this any real concern? I loved the comfort of shooting the Impact, but don't think I'm up for all the hassle of problems. Don't get me wrong, I'm an FX lover, with a Crown and Dream Tac, just don't like the M4 issues. Some have complained about the side lever, saying it's looks fragile, and that it's floppy??

I'd be buying the Prophet 25 for pellets only for long distance. I'd really like to have the 22LR, but can't find a deal on one yet, so the 25 is my second choice, and maybe later a barrel change, even though that looks like quite an expensive mission.

Anyway, any insight you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hatsan  Hatsan Flash-R Repair

I finally heard back from Hatsan, they won't send me the parts but said they would let me send in just the air cylinder and fill valve for repair. I'm good with that since it's a smaller package and chances are they will probably just send another air cylinder and fill valve instead of actually repairing this one. I agreed to send the parts in for repair, now I'm waiting on their response and a shipping label... No telling how long that will take!
Dang Paul! That was quite the headache! Hope you get this issue fixed SOON! 🙏

N/A  Suggestions on first PCP, small game hunting, and having fun.

Prefer a semi-auto, compact as possible, and quiet with a moderator. The new homes near the farm are roughly 35 yards away, and our property moves away from them. I have been compiling a list of ones to consider. Will shoot for fun as well, but many small pests are showing up. We are settled in a valley by a river and get constant breezes to strong winds. I have been watching videos for almost a month, trying to find the decibel readings, but getting an idea is challenging. I lean towards the sidewinder mini, but users' reports have me wondering whether the new neighbors will complain. Huben K1 seems to be considered generally quiet. Will also be shooting at our house during the night. I prefer the sidewinder, but if anyone with experience believes it would be an issue, I would like feedback on what would meet my needs.

Plan to carry the tractor as well when working:
BackPack

Cons: Loud, complaints that the action is too loud when shooting.

EdgunwestWestern Aiguns Sidewinder Compact PRO

31.5" (Compact)
Unable to find the folded length
Users question reliability.

Huben K1 Gen-5 Hammerless PCP Air Rifle .25
Overall Length 31.75"
Weight 7.25 lbs
Overall, a favorable impression on the forms.

Evanix Cloud Ultra
Length: 32.874
Weight: 7.71618
Action creates air at face, similar to sidewinder reports.

EDgun Leshiy 2
350mm dimensions:
OAL with Behemoth: 37”
Folded with Behemoth: 25”
Folded without Behemoth: 19”
Weight: 6.4 lbs
Many favorable reviews, but the UK forum is very unfavorable.
Quite per reports, and very compact.

Few non-semi-auto.
RAW MicroHunter Rifle | Pre-charged pneumatic Air Rifle
Overall length: 27"

FX Wildcat MKIII Compact Air Rifle, Synthetic Stock
Overall Length 26.75"

FX Maverick Compact PCP Air Rifle
Overall Length 27.5"

FX Panthera Hunter Compact
Overall length: 30.5
Foldable stock option
I have read the reports and think the FX Maverick Compact PCP Air Rifle has the best reputation .

PCP Rifle  WTS Daystate Wolverine R HP .22 – Excellent Condition –

FOR SALE: Daystate Wolverine R HP .22

I'm listing my Daystate Wolverine R HP in .22 caliber, recently purchased here on Airgun Nation. While it’s a fantastic rifle in excellent condition, the 44-inch length and the grey laminate stock don’t quite align with what I had envisioned for my first Daystate.

The rifle is in like-new condition with a beautiful grey laminate stock—no major visible marks or blemishes on the rifle itself, though there are a few light marks on the bottle that are noticeable. In my opinion, it's an impressive example of this model.

It includes what appears to be almost everything originally supplied by the manufacturer: factory packaging, manual & paperwork etc., magazine, single-shot tray, and trigger adjustment tools. Please note, there is no extended QD Foster fitting and no transferable warranty.

💰 Price: $1085 + actual shipping (firm).
I believe this is a fair price for the condition and performance.

🤝 Trade?
While I'm primarily looking for a sale, I’m open to possible trades for a compact or carbine PCP of comparable quality and condition—such as a HW 100 or AA S510, Krait Lite, AirMaks Krait, Taipan Veteran 1 (Standard), or Uragan 2 in .22. Established forum members only, please.

📦 Buyer covers shipping. I’ll pack it securely, and optional insurance is available at buyer’s request and cost.

💳 Payment: PayPal Friends & Family or Zelle.
