N/A  i have been in the Chaser rabbit hole for a very long and found some new grips

just a note i did not make those grips
for wood grips
i have a problem doing that sort of thing, first off i do not have all the power tools to do the work
and i have another problem i hate to fail
i am now past 75 and my days of tinkering is closing on me ideas i have
grip i find are hard because of the inletting and the thought of make kindling out of walnut or other nice woods keeps me away
the fact is i have the wood here at the house
i do believe some will enjoy the grips above
I totally understand.

AEA  BINTAC T-50 First look.

l have two Megs. My .457 had a small leak on arrival, but that was simply a faulty o-ring. Replaced it, never leaked since. No leaks at all on my .50 so far.

I bought them from local shops, in the Netherlands. We have no power limit on airguns here, like they do in Germany or the UK. So the ones you buy here are the same as the US versions.

Are glass optics becoming obsolete?

Regarding GLASS (literally) becoming obsolete -- it is possible that mirrors will SOMEDAY replace glass. Think about a Newtonian telescope with a camera sensor in place of the eyepiece and, instead of the eyepiece hole being at the side of the scope -- picture a hole in the center of the primary mirror so that the camera sensor is attached to the rear (bottom) of the telescope. The advantage of mirrors (reflecting light) over light passing through glass (bending light) is that there is practically no light transmission loss. Perhaps more importantly, there would be zero prism effect -- meaning that chromatic aberration would not exist with mirrors. Another possible advantage is that, someday, light weight materials will be able to be precisely shaped and then coated with a shiny material to form the curved mirror surface.

Regarding the use of camera sensors and digital "stuff", yeah -- that's definitely going to increase.

We need to save California!

Farmers are trying everything they can to protect their crop and their walnuts from this infestation. However, Genasci says it's becoming increasingly more difficult because they have to use fewer rodenticides.

"Rodenticides have been really in the crosshairs. They've removed a number of items we use to kill rodents, or restricted their use," Genasci said. "If it's not one thing, it's another, it seems like."

He's hoping that soon, farmers and growers can catch a break.

Brocock/BRK  Atomic XR I need some help from the BRK crew Resolved!!

Finally had some time to devote to the Atomic.
I had left it with the local shop’s tech. He played with it for a day and came up empty other than maybe the barrel.
he tuned it and got the same results I did. Good consistent SD’s and poor grouping.
I took it home and decided a barrel polish could not hurt anything as long as I didn’t get carried away.
While I was taking the barrel out of the gun I noticed only one of the 4 grub screws that hold the shroud in place was snugged down. Potential cause? The screws holding the barrel in the block were not tight, barely snug, maybe another issue. Polished the barrel, cleaned it all up and put it back together. I decided that a call to AOA was in order to reset my expectations on accuracy and get any advice they could offer.
They told me the gun should be able to shoot inside a dime at 25 yards. OK that sounds reasonable. Then they told me to keep pellets in the 14 gr range as this was what they have found works best in the little gun.
I had some time this afternoon to hit the indoor range so took the gun to see how it shot. Shot the CPHP’s well enough, hated the JSB 15.89’, shot patterns instead of groups with some RWS 14 gr the shop had. After some tinkering with the hammer spring tension (reducing it) it was shooting neat little one hole groups at the 18 yards available at the range and was getting 3 magazines per fill before going off the reg.
I am happy with this little gun. Suits my low power needs well and is a lot of fun to shoot.
Thanks for the input and advice

Heart/Lung thread

This is gonna be a duplicate post so if you already saw it on separate thread, oh well :p I should have put it here to begin with. I've been messing around with really slow moving pellets and having a blast, here is a vital shot @ 5.5fpe on a ringneck and still got a pass through, was about 12 yards.

This tune is strictly for backyard plinking under 20 yds so I wanted under 7fpe and still be under 1/4" at 15 yards. Here are my chrono results with different pellets below. I was out of the 25.83g Rangemasters so only made 2 shots, shooting the 25.83g Rangemasters is awesome, like lobbing a bowling ball.

I was out of everything but my backup stash of Gamo 15.43g when this Ringneck Dove decided to join the native doves and won't have any of that. Only about 417fps / 5.5fpe and still got a pass through!

Hmmmm, dove breast

HYPER VELOCITY NOTOS... DEVASTATING EFFECTS ON DOVE! Slow motion vid

Just kidding. this is my much tuned down Notos still taking kicking ass and taking names!

Sheridan  Sheridans FPS V # of Pumps V caliber V pellet weight or choice

I have withdrawal symptoms too, but mine are not being able to consider any Sheridan newer than the C model of the mid 70's a real Sheridan. I've got to be so careful. 😁
since my Sheridan days started in 1962 it’s safe to say it was a Sheridan 🎯

Coyote suggestions

@Chukar60
I didnt see your initial question answered about slug choice. The Hybrids are very soft, if you wanted to try something harder the Nielsens are probably going to be your best bet. They will open a little bit; but the small and shallow hollow point cavity combined with the harder alloy gives a great balance of terminal performance and penetration. The older style H&N slugs are also harder than the Hybrids and Id say they are somewhere in the middle. I would go straight to Nielsens personally.
That’s the kind of information I was looking for. I had the same thought. Just have not had time to get some Nielsen’s and order some. As this is a strictly hunting gun I will go to a heavier slug and twist the power up a bit more. Shot count is not concern here.

Thank you

N/A  Low powered guns

I love shooting my Vulcan 30cal 62.5g slugs @ 1000fps / 137fpe and love shooting the Pulsar .177 13.34g slugs @ 1010fps / 30fpe....but also love shooting my tuned down Notos shooting 25.83g @ 329fps / 6.25fpe...it's like lobbing a bowling bowl LOL

Each rifle and tune is for a specific reason, the Notos is specifically for shooting backyard and wanted to be under 7 fpe and still be accurate out to 20 yards which is the max I'm shooting at in the yard.

I was all out of Rangemaster kings in 25.83g and out of JSB 15.89 and 18.13, was supposed to hit up Airguns of Arizona today but got tied up so I used my backup Gamo Swarm Hollow Point 10X when I saw this ringneck dove join the native doves.

Will have none of that.

The 15.43g Gamo HP are only shooting 418fps / 5.5fpe and still get a pass through on the dove

Daystate  Purchased a used Daystate Air Wolf CDT .25, Treat or Trouble?

I did change the tank out to a carbon fiber and I wish didn’t but as far as the gun goes it shoots great.
Are you saying not to change out tank at all ?

Or

Just don't change it out to a carbon fiber one?

Or

If you change it out, change it out with original new one from Daystate?

I am asking cause these tanks do have a shelf life I believe and eventually need to be changed out, or am I mistaken?
