Shooting a Snowpeak PP750 at the General Target

Hi Thomas, I took the gun apart 2 days ago and what you saw and what I saw in the video was the older version of the Artemis PP 750 the snow peak PP 750 is redesigned. I didn't know this but when I screwed out the end cap the regulator does not come out with the end cap it's inside the tube so I have no idea how to adjust it or how to get it out.

Tuning  .177 vs .22 shotcount

In my guns, it is not precisely true that using a heavier projectile, with no other changes, produces the same fpe. If you said "within 1 fpe" I would agree, however. I shot a lot yesterday using my P35-22 using mostly 18 grain projectiles but also 21 grain. The 21 grain fpe was a little more than half a foot pound greater. From a practical standpoint I would agree they are the same. But not exactly. With a wider difference in weight I would expect to see a little more difference but still not much.

Shooting a Snowpeak PP750 at the General Target

Hello @powderblue

I am not a gun smith but from watching that video I would think to not drill the holes to start with. Try to get the 14fpe by adjusting the regulator and hammer spring. If that gets you close, then drill the holes BUT only a very slight over size at a time. Dan went all the way out to start but he was looking for the MAX pressure, you are looking for less than max.

Suggest a Night Vision Scope

Here is what I posted in another thread about the new DNT Zulus V2:

I got my Zulus V2 Friday and set it up yesterday. Not sure I'm a fan of the built in memory. I did the firmware update and then received a memory card error (with no way to swap it for a good one) and it wouldn't record. Luckily, I was able to clear it by rebooting the scope and it all seems to be working well now, but what happens if it fails in the future? I like the new menu system, but not sure why they had to flip-flop all the controls on the top of the scope, it makes it confusing when you have a couple Zulus V1's and know where the buttons are and what they do! I haven't compared the video recordings yet, but I don't really notice a big difference with the internal view. I'm not sure it's worth the extra $100 for the V2.

Another oddity... The 21700 batteries that come with it are just a tad narrower than the 21700 batteries sold on Amazon. I have ordered two separate sets of 21700 batteries and both sets won't fit in the battery compartment of the Zulus V2. So, if these batteries that came with the V2 die, you may be out of luck ordering replacements from anywhere but DNT! And, if the memory dies or gets corrupt, and it's outside the warranty, it may be an expense to replace it if it has to be sent in to do so. The one positive I found, it does connect to my phone a lot better than the V1, but so far that's the only real improvement I'm seeing... I kind of regret getting the V2, and I wish I had just spent the few dollars more and gotten the V1 LRF model.

I have 2 Zulus 520HD V1 scopes, 1 312HD V1, 520HD-LRF V1 and 1 520HD V2. IMHO, the best one is the 520HD-LRF V1. Best bang for the buck is the 520HD V1 @ just over $300!

To address your question about the 520HD over the 312HD, If I were shooting larger prey and longer distances, the 312HD would be great for its greater field of view. But for shooting rats and mice at 50 yards or less (which is primarily what I do), the 520HD is perfect! I rarely use zoom power over 7.5X and the sight view is very crisp and clear. Also, if you choose to record a video of your shot, it will be clearer at the lower magnifications. So, essentially the more you zoom in, the more degraded the view do to pixelation. None of these scopes use optical zoom, only digital zoom, so the higher the zoom power, the lower the resolution. For this reason, shooting a rat at 5 power is going to be way clearer on the 520HD than 5 power on the 312HD scope. I hope this helps.
This is great thank you. So what is the benefit of the V1 LRF model?

Is there a Zulu V1 type option that has thermal? Or does that get into major money, like is it that much of an upgrade?

The RWS Target pellets are extremely good

I coach the NJROTC air rifle team at our local High School. Our team has been to the national finals for CMP and the Navy JROTC finals 7 years in a row and I have had at least one cadet at the JROTC all service nationals for around the same. The overall JROTC individual champion for 2024 was one of mine.
All we shoot are RWS Meisters. (y)
About 40,000 a year!🤣

Why does FX come out with so many different rifles ?

You are right about the old rifles like RAW and others. They are fine rifles, but we all know what their shortcomings are and it seems to take forever to correct them.. Example is the Air Arms S510. What took so long to incorporate an regulator and a power adjuster with detents?? Raw needs to make an externally adjustable regulator. Both of these need a simple basic design change to make them more air efficient. FX seems to address stuff like this every other week, to their defense.
Well, about that externally adjustable regulator on a HM1000x...

Gamo  My pellet suggestion for 22 cal. Swarm Magnum 10x Gen3

They are all 2.5mm screws. The 2 mm you have seen mentioned is the WRENCH size needed to remove the screw. The factory size screw is 2.5 mm x 6 mm long. Some replace it with a 10 mm long screw, but you can't snug it all the way down or you will wind up with an unsafe "hair trigger'. An 8 mm long screw tightened all the way down worked perfect for me .

Tuning  .177 vs .22 shotcount

Thanks for your answers.
I may have been a bit imprecise there.
Of course, I'm aware that the rifle needs to be readjusted to the lighter pellets.
I was just curious whether, with a good setup, you could achieve a similarly high shot count.
As you explained with your Vereran Long example, this is quite possible. Thanks for that.
I can only speak to 177, 22, 25 and I can say that 177 was the most finicky to tune of the 3. At the same time my wishes are for groups and similar trajectories between guns because I will forget my dopes with so many toys and the standards ive put on myself for hunting shots.

Why does FX come out with so many different rifles ?

I'll just poke a few holes here .... Theoben / RAW in the world of PCP's these past 25+ years are by in large changed up very little as there a dinosaur in a world of other species evolving around them.
Yet .... they to this day more than hold there own and folks still wish to purchase & own one or several of these excellent PCP air rifles. May I Have Another Please :giggle:

I totally get BSA, Webley, Diana etc for there Spring piston style air guns as the most used platform in todays world is PCP.
BSA made a couple PCP styles but were less than service friendly and solid enough when assembled to take real world use & abuse ( relative to other brands )
Diana in PCPs went China ... nuff said there.
Webley far as I know never danced in PCP's

PCP Rifle  WTS Evol .30 SubMoa Barrel with Moderator

Posting again. Just have too many guns (and 3 other AAAs). It's more of a bench gun than a hunter and I seem to do more hunting. Shoots as you would expect an Evol with the new 21" SubMOA barrel. Under 150 pellets therough it. Tuned to shoot 44.5g at about 910fps. Comes with a Savior case and one magazine and paperwork from AoA. Scope is not included. $2100 plus exact shipping to you. PP F&F works or Venmo. PP invoice can be done, but I'll add their fees. Moderator is not for sale by itself.

Which would youchoose - Diana Bandit .177 or combo .22 vs Marauder .22vsUmarex Notos .22UPDATE: NOTOS FOR THE WIN! Which Red Dot?

OP, what is making you want a red dot and not a scope? Just my curiosity since I’m in the rabbit hole market too.
For a held pistol.. weight. Scope is 12 ounces heavier than a holosun style dot.

Skout  Skout EVO precision with slugs

Hadn't shot the EVO since my last post so I wanted to see if it was working okay. Well except for the air leaking out  since the last time I shot it a month ago it worked fine. As usual it shoots those Altaros 32.3's very good and it had retained it's zero. I set a 10" steel at 200Y to see how that would go and made a first round hit lower on the steel, corrected, then only missed once in 20 or so shots.

I haven't tried it with pellets yet with the HP reg dialed down so I experimented with that too. I used 16gr Daystate Sovereign's and kept dialing the HP reg down until the SD's got bad which was at 750 fps/20-ish fpe then dialed back up to a 10 or so SD where it shot decently which was 770 fps. This only took a few minutes to do. It put in enough precision to hit a 1.5" spinner at 50Y, and a 2" spinner at 75Y, much of the time. It was really the wind that was causing the misses, though my impression was that the power needs to be bumped up a tad more because the precision was almost a inch at 50Y. I just wanted to see how low I could go and have it still shoot with decent precision.

It's funny how huge the difference is in the G1 BC of these projectiles which is .18 for the slugs vs .031 for the pellets.

I was getting tired so I stopped shooting but it'd be fun to see how many shots I can get out of a 4000 psi fill using this pellet speed. Might have to do a plinkfest in the near future to test it out.

It's convenient to change power levels and a versatile gun as far as that goes. Long range slugger to mild pellet plinker in minutes.

new guy here,optics question

Hello everybody i want to get into the pcp and looking around for some good deals that dont break the bank, anyway here is a scope i came across

i dont know the first thing about optics, always been a bow hunter :) so i figured better ask you guys than getting generic chat gpt answers
I appreciate it
Excellent site for scope info.

new guy here,optics question

Welcome to AGN. I would also like to add that vector optics also offers a nice compact fixed 10x scope too. But I also own several utg's, a couple discovery scopes, a few bushnells, and a few monstrum tacticals. And they all have there use. I also think you should give Matthias thread a read. Good luck and again welcome. Let us know what you went with.
