Randolph front rest

There is no slop in the AR250 stick but if you put your gun on the rest and grab your scope turret and wiggle side to side there is a lot of slop in the head. I was concerned about that with my slug gun because it's probably 5-10x the slop you would experience on a knob type rest.

I built my own joystick rest to fix that "problem " but to be fair I do not shoot higher scores with mine so the head slop on the AR250 doesn't appear to cause problems that show up on the target.

The other thing that concerns me with the AR 250 for world competition is the ears on the front bags extend so far above the rest block that when you put sufficient tension on them to prevent side to side movement, the top of the bags are containing the rifle in a vertical fashion. In the classes that have weight limits like light and heavy rifle, they like to pick your gun up and if the rest moves with it, they will weigh both items and you will be overweight. That really isn't an issue for most disciplines… But could certainly be a problem in world competition.

This is the difference in a Amateur like me giving a review compared to a Pro on the world stage :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I will just be shooting N50 here locally and was just trying to figure out the front rest options. I like the idea of a joystick but I like a solid rest like when I use my Phoenix in F Class. I was just curious on shooting bench since I've never done it with rest like the Randolph when you go to shoot a sighters and move to shoot for score is it a pain to do? You know with F Class once you start shooting for score you can't go back to sighters so there's not a lot of movement

No, better off with powder burner......yes, if spending more money, you need a good springer rated scope;a accurate .25 that you can cock easy....and be able to place the shot in the head......
That is a pessimistic view, others probably will have a more optimistic take, the bottom line is you,can you shot a springer good enough to do what you want?

What did you do airgun related today.

OldVet sure would like to see some full pics of that beautiful airgun.
This is a glamor shot.
I got this gun is 2009 to shoot Field
Target. I was using a Browning Leverage shooting open piston. I sold everything I had to get this gun. I then practiced every day till I went to the US Nationals in 2015.
Now I am remodeling it to shoot Hunter class at my field target club. Been a long journey with this gun.

As long as the counter balance is properly set, there is no drift in the joysick ..no play.
I can shoot my .30 Epoch on the rest without any shifts
Wow..they HAVE gone up ...like father like son...lol

i didn't know about an adjustable width!!..sounds better
does the gun stay in place if you do not touch (let go ) of the joy stick ?

Nickel, Dime, Dollars 😂

Like many, many things, they can be a hole to pour money into. Buy a boat or an airplane or collect slingshots, ceramic unicorns, comics, music...it never ends.

We had one guy at the range (many years ago) who bought one rifle, took it to the range once a week (Sundays) and shot paper plates at 100yds. I'd have six there and he would shake his head. "I only need one." He wasn't the "beware the man with one gun", he wasn't cheap...he was simply boring. :ROFLMAO:

What are the downsides of semi-auto?

Downside for me is pellet consumption, at least when plinking cans and such. Got my own air so that isn't an issue but would be if I had to rely on a shop for it. My solution for pellets is Crosman's offerings. My L2 and Steyr both shoot them well enough for plinking. If I'm going for a live target I load Hades for better accuracy and effect.

The L2's are more complicated and are more prone to malfunction because of that. I've got 3 of them (.22, .30/.25, .35) and have learned how to treat and maintain them for reasonable reliability.

The Steyr Pro-X is on another level... Or two! Accurate, simple, efficient, and quiet. No air used to cycle the removable mags. 200b fill gives me 80 shots. A nice consistent trigger. Downside is price. I wouldn't own one if I hadn't gotten a crazy good deal on a used rifle.

Personally, i haven't had a need for extra width ..but i'd probably get it if buying for 1st time
Yeah if I were to get one I would get the adjustable one because I'll be using it with air guns that have atca bottoms that are flat and 22 LR flat bottom. Ernie says they are in stock too

Can you fill my 4500 PSI Scott carbon fiber tank? Bakersfield California area!

Bakersfield California area if possible I need someone to fill my Scott 4500 PSI carbon fiber tank ! Tried rebuilding my yong heng compressor with no success and really would like to get out and shoot my PCP rifles I will compensate for the fill. Would be very nice today if possible!? Thank you!
I bet the firehouse would do it for you

hey guys i am new to the air gun world,, i see a lot has changed since my daisy red ryder bb gun.

looking in to a break barrel stout enough to knock out groundhogs ,, thinking 25 cal,,
but which one? there are quite few choices. my maximum distance will be around 40 to 50 yards hopefully closer.

hatsan has a few in my price range.. i am looking at 300 to 350 for my budget. is this possible ? and cost of decent scope too.

thanks
doc martin

They are around 800 now shipped or 900 with the adjustable width. Is it stable? I have a phoenix bipod and rear bag setup that I use for f class 22lr and it's very stable

Petition to Allow Laser Range Finders in Field Target Competitions

Hi everyone,

We’ve just launched a petition asking the WFTF to consider allowing the use of Laser Range Finders in Field Target competitions. This change could make the sport more accessible, inclusive, and aligned with modern shooting practices.

If you believe in making Field Target more open to newcomers, HFT shooters, and those with visual or technical challenges, please take a moment to read and sign the petition

Your support can help bring positive change to our sport. Thank you!
The simplest solution i can think of and cost no money is just unlimited shot's till you hit the intended target , Everybody gets a 1st place trophy !
No winners , no losers , no hurt feelings , no tear's ,and most of all ,no whining !

What are the downsides of semi-auto?

A few downsides:

  1. Fixed-mag semi-autos can jam when using undersized and oversized ammo.
  2. In a hammerless design they are shot from the magazine not the breech.
  3. Not the safest airguns if the magazine can’t be removed (a fixed magazine) and the air gun can’t be de-cocked (hammerless).
  4. Need to learn a different method of cleaning hammerless semi-auto airgun barrels with fixed magazines If you aren’t removing the barrel.
These are some of the reasons why I'm leaning towards the Mordax but the Mordax is large if used as a pistol. No matter which one I get I've learned there are things I won't like about each because it's that way with every gun I've ever owned.

Concerning my Steyr's I mentioned earlier. They both have nice triggers, have been super reliable, and a pleasure to shoot.
At 10M one ragged hole off a bench for the LP5, and have shot enough groups touching at 50Y with the ProX to be plenty satisfied with it's precision capability.

Both have removable mags too. Just barely enough room to get a pull through patch using tweezers to grab the loop and pull it out but can be done with patience. I haven't ever taken the barrel off of them or seldom need the barrels cleaned.

It was 20-ish years before I finally needed a rebuild for my LP5 which is amazing.

Have never been sorry and have had absolutely no regrets that I acquired them!!!

Now the FX Revolution I owned was the opposite! Not FX's best try.

Petition to Allow Laser Range Finders in Field Target Competitions

Ya but im not here to math, I just build my guns to shoot flat(why I can't shoot field target) and and they're squirrel accurate off just the approx parralax reading correlated to scope stickers.

I just have the "I don't like rules" personality.
But this is an international, organized, skill based competition.
The entire fall of society is due to putting the rules and the enforcement of them by the wayside in favor of immediate gratification and personal desires.

Taking the skills away would ruin the entire spirit of the sport.
it's math in the beginning, eventually you begin to just know distance based on size in reticle and where the parallax becomes crystal clear. I can just put something on my reticle, use my side focus wheel and have a good enough idea to score hits on game. I dont do FT.

just like AI and cellphones in school, always opting to rely on technology degrades skills and arrests development of knowledge.
