Sheridan  Sheridans FPS V # of Pumps V caliber V pellet weight or choice

Ahhh .... i'm not an airgun aficionado but learning that Benjamin-Sheridans is "a thing" is very cool. To me they are all Sheridans.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH their might be long past Sheridan owners rolling in their graves right now ! 😊😊😊

357 Western rattler

140-150-167 Mr hollow point is shooting good.
I tried the 125gr and 142gr nsa slugs this past week but there must be something up with my rattler. It was only sending the 125gr slugs downrange at around 700-710fps. When I tried to increase the regulator pressure I was met with a bunch of air dumping after each shot. Thinking I brought it up too far I turned it down 10ish clicks but the same extremely low shot count and poor performance beyond 50y. I ran out of time but I'm going to have to do some digging next time I can take it out.

Tuning  .177 vs .22 shotcount

I've used both .25 and .22 calibers Taipan Veterans. The larger caliber is definitely more efficient with air usage. Tuned to the same FPE, the .25 caliber was getting 50% more shots on the regulator compared to the .22 caliber. On the other hand, tuned to the same reg pressure, the .25 was getting about 17 FPE more than the .22 and both guns were getting the exact same shot count at those tunes.

I don't have experiences with other guns of multiple calibers but I've seen specs and user tests where the difference between a small and larger calibers don't come close to what I saw with my Veterans. I come to the belief that, yes, a bigger caliber will generally be more air efficient than smaller caliber but to what extent also largely depends on the design of the gun such as the porting, valves, etc..

Also, from my experiences with my own guns, the higher the tunes, and the closer it get to the gun's theoretical maximum, the MORE air it uses. Going back to my Taipan Veteran Standard in .25 caliber, at 44 FPE it's getting 60 shots on the reg. However, maxed at at 55 FPE, it's only getting around 28 shots on the reg.

My Veteran Long at 40 FPE was getting about 40 shots on the reg. Tuned down to 30 FPE and it's more than double at 90 shots.

And to address your last question, no, you can't change a gun's FPE by simply changing the projectile weights. You have to actually change the gun's tuning.

Crosman  Best mods to make 1322 quieter and easier to pump?

Hey guys, I've been looking for a gun to get my dad to help with his pest problem. He's done traps and everything but some of the rats and squirrels just dont go for them. He is in a very urban setting so the gun needs to be quiet. I got him a hatsan airtract, and a umatrex prymex but it was too much for him to get cocked and too loud even after cleaning the barrel.

We tried the crossman and its hard for him to get up to 10+ pumps, but maybe with some mods it could be more manageable. For mods, something that makes the pumping easier, or that gets more power out of each pump would be ideal, he would mostly be shooting fairly close 5-15m and for rats, gophers, squirrels. And obviously a moderator/suppressor(still not really sure the difference), to quiet it down. I've seen Buck Rail seems to be the go to for that side. I saw the post yesterday about the adjustable flat top and valve to increase power, so will look into that as well and whatever other recs you all have.

I've also considered some budget PCP and hand pump like a storm rider, or a refurb hatsan or something. Thanks AGN!
Adding more power will increase the amount of force required to pump . adding length to the pump handle will make it easier to pump would be easy to add to the1377 or 1322 see picture you could even make it a few inches longer along the bottom of the grips . www.airgundepot.com/crosman-1322-air-pistol-black.html . many places sell these

Yeah, that confused me as well. (I had to look them up.) He meant Benjamin-Sheridans. I don't consider them to be Sheridans because they're a mash up of Sheridan and Benjamin designs.

Cheers,

FX  Huma introduced a good trigger for mk2 and M3

I have the very first surfaced MK2, and all my upgrades were performance oriented vs cosmetics.
Today I think it far exceeds the M3, but I just could not justify drilling into action block only to have the Reg gage moved over there.
Now this new trigger really tickling my interest.
Looks like the MK2 is finally getting that surgery as well I was waiting long for it.

Hello everyone,

I’m currently in the data-gathering stage for a presentation on starting a possible Hunter Field Target (HFT) league on the north side of Fort Wayne, IN.

I realize there have been mentions of something similar in the past that never quite came together, but this time around the renewed interest has been very encouraging. So far, I’ve received a lot of support and positive feedback, which is motivating me to take this idea further and eventually submit a proposal to the facility.

What’s needed right now?
At this stage, it’s pretty simple: I’d like to get a sense of how many people within a reasonable driving distance would be interested in shooting HFT at a quality outdoor facility.

Please note—since this project is still in its infancy, I’m not able to share specific details about the potential location just yet. Releasing that information too early could disrupt the chances of moving this campaign forward. Once things are more concrete, I’ll be able to provide full details.

If this sounds like something you’d be excited about—or if you’d like to learn more—please drop a reply here. The more feedback and interest we can show, the stronger the case will be for making this league a reality.

Quick Poll – Would you be interested in participating?

  • 👍 Yes, I’d definitely be interested
  • 🤔 Maybe, I’d like to learn more first
  • 👎 Not at this time
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

What pistol did you shoot today

I took a turn now to the Wacky Wild West World 🌎 …Starting with the Crosman SA6…Single Action….22 cal…it’s in decent condition…it is missing the Sparklet cover like most of them …so I just painted a few CO2‘s in black…it’s holding air…got about 40 shots…reloading is a pain…the piercing knob is terrible to tighten..they should have come with a spanner wrench 🔧…haven’t found one yet .. I might have to make one…what I do like about this one is that it will allow you to Fan the hammer…going to need leather gloves for this ..hammer has sharp edge…it’s a little underpowered…but it shoots fairly well considering the fixed U-Grooved Blade

“Fast guns”, aka “race guns”, started out as stock six-guns. Modifications for fanning included taller hammers, lighter springs, deeper bolt notches, and angled cylinder bolts. All necessary because fanning put such a strain on the gun that it wouldn’t last long without these mods.
Anyway, I’m on a roll and I’m raving 🙂.
You could add a piece to the hammer to make it taller and easier to fan, and this would be in line with mods done to a real six-gun.
First shot uses the trigger (gun already cocked), second shot from a fan of the thumb, third shot from the forefinger as it follows the thumb across the hammer.
Now, go get ‘em!

Skout  Everything Skout EVO and Epoch

Well, I decided to drill out the needle valve to 1mm and the high-pressure regulator body holes to 2.5mm on my scout Epoch as well and it worked fantastic as well.
My extreme spread is now six point 6.6 over 33 shots. I also took no test shots prior to reinstalling the regulator and I just guessed at how far to screw it in and it actually came out perfect 🤩
Pre-drilling was 10.2 and that’s after deleting one shot.

backstop sale !

I've tried horse mat. I found that with a moderately powered airgun (say 35 FPE+) it works ok for a few shots, but multiple shots in the same area quickly tear through the rubber.

*Two great alternative for horse mats are: runners on top of concrete to soften walking/standing, and glued/bolted to the backside of a steel plate to reduce the sound.

IMO rubber mulch is the ultimate backstop.

AEA  First Big bore

I have the Zeus and several Airforce models in .257, .357, t-rex .510. I was tempted, still kind of am to get a Challenger. As others have stated, AEA gun is heavy. I had to change out the barrel and tank to their smallest version to get the weight down to something more manageable. In the end I converted the Zeus to a 19" 12 gauge shotgun. 72 cal slugs is overkill anyway. The Airforce guns are superior in every way imo, with exception of no magazine (which is a limiting factor anyway). I have a little buyers remorse on the Tex-Rex, but only because it is sooo powerful, that the kick bruises my shoulder after a few shots. I'm tempted to try and trade for the .457 cal Tex-Rex just to tame it a bit.
