OHHHHHHHHHHHHH their might be long past Sheridan owners rolling in their graves right now !Ahhh .... i'm not an airgun aficionado but learning that Benjamin-Sheridans is "a thing" is very cool. To me they are all Sheridans.
I tried the 125gr and 142gr nsa slugs this past week but there must be something up with my rattler. It was only sending the 125gr slugs downrange at around 700-710fps. When I tried to increase the regulator pressure I was met with a bunch of air dumping after each shot. Thinking I brought it up too far I turned it down 10ish clicks but the same extremely low shot count and poor performance beyond 50y. I ran out of time but I'm going to have to do some digging next time I can take it out.140-150-167 Mr hollow point is shooting good.
Adding more power will increase the amount of force required to pump . adding length to the pump handle will make it easier to pump would be easy to add to the1377 or 1322 see picture you could even make it a few inches longer along the bottom of the grips . www.airgundepot.com/crosman-1322-air-pistol-black.html . many places sell theseHey guys, I've been looking for a gun to get my dad to help with his pest problem. He's done traps and everything but some of the rats and squirrels just dont go for them. He is in a very urban setting so the gun needs to be quiet. I got him a hatsan airtract, and a umatrex prymex but it was too much for him to get cocked and too loud even after cleaning the barrel.
We tried the crossman and its hard for him to get up to 10+ pumps, but maybe with some mods it could be more manageable. For mods, something that makes the pumping easier, or that gets more power out of each pump would be ideal, he would mostly be shooting fairly close 5-15m and for rats, gophers, squirrels. And obviously a moderator/suppressor(still not really sure the difference), to quiet it down. I've seen Buck Rail seems to be the go to for that side. I saw the post yesterday about the adjustable flat top and valve to increase power, so will look into that as well and whatever other recs you all have.
I've also considered some budget PCP and hand pump like a storm rider, or a refurb hatsan or something. Thanks AGN!

He meant Benjamin-Sheridans. I don't consider them to be Sheridans because they're a mash up of Sheridan and Benjamin designs.

“Fast guns”, aka “race guns”, started out as stock six-guns. Modifications for fanning included taller hammers, lighter springs, deeper bolt notches, and angled cylinder bolts. All necessary because fanning put such a strain on the gun that it wouldn’t last long without these mods.I took a turn now to the Wacky Wild West World…Starting with the Crosman SA6…Single Action….22 cal…it’s in decent condition…it is missing the Sparklet cover like most of them …so I just painted a few CO2‘s in black…it’s holding air…got about 40 shots…reloading is a pain…the piercing knob is terrible to tighten..they should have come with a spanner wrench
…haven’t found one yet .. I might have to make one…what I do like about this one is that it will allow you to Fan the hammer…going to need leather gloves for this ..hammer has sharp edge…it’s a little underpowered…but it shoots fairly well considering the fixed U-Grooved Blade

Sheridans only came in .20cal
140-150-167 Mr hollow point is shooting good. Thanks for the tips. I just picked up one of these in .357 and was looking for some ammo suggestions to start with.
I've tried horse mat. I found that with a moderately powered airgun (say 35 FPE+) it works ok for a few shots, but multiple shots in the same area quickly tear through the rubber.
*Two great alternative for horse mats are: runners on top of concrete to soften walking/standing, and glued/bolted to the backside of a steel plate to reduce the sound.
IMO rubber mulch is the ultimate backstop.
