Bipod mounting - Arca or Picatinny?

To me it would depend on what I was going to use the gun for. If I were expecting to primarily shoot it off of a tripod then I’d rather have an arca rail. If I might also want to mount something else in that location then I’d rather have picatinny.

I could not come close to justifying the cost of a night vision scope, so I just did this.

Lights up my chicken pen area just fine, especially if the trash bandit look in my direction. Two nice bright orbs to aim between.
I completely agree. As I mentioned in my post, Raccoons have awful color vision. Worst being red/green which appears muddy to them.
I got a couple red LED lightbulbs and painted the entire area. They showed no hesitation or reserved behaviors at all.
My scope is a $100 Cvlife. It has A.O. and illuminated. So far I love it. Using the lowest brightness on green illumination with the red bait/kill zone, the contrast gives me a perfect picture to place the dot and send it.
I also keep an LED flashlight with a red balloon over it and of course regular lights to spook out if needed. Cameras around can blast light and sound if needed.
Anyway, sorry to repeat myself a bit. I lost track where I was going. Just to fall back to the OP; I'm still green without the experience to give much advice. All I can say is what I did. I am beyond thrilled with this Avenger Bullpup. Very happy I went with 25 caliber, and so far think I made a great move with the discounted compressor. My scope only time will tell. Right now it's great. Air Venturi was super fast to reply to my issue. Friendly and knowledgeable. Had me on the path to repair right away.

Good Luck. Those Racoons are TOUGH little monsters. Head by far the best. One thing to really keep in mind. When that head shot impacts, they almost always go into a massive uncontrolled gymnastics routine. Most of the time dead but some no. Slow approach and finish it.

I'm curious to see what direction you go. I'm really enjoying your thread. Such a load of knowledge.

My 9 year old’s first kill

My son got his first quail today. We were walking around our property and my son saw some quail and has been dying to get a rabbit. I compromised and told him he could try and snag a quail. So he patiently stalked them and waited for a good shot and took it at about 50 yards! He was calm and made a nice shot, I am very proud of him. Karma EQ .25 shooting a 28gr pellet at 960fps.

OUTSTANDING!!

Airmaks?

I know of a dealer in Connecticut (1 of 4 in the states I believe), and as a couple of weeks ago , he definitely didn’t seem to be moving away from the Airmaks. As a matter of fact, he praised them more highly than the other brands he keeps in stock , all of which was very high end air rifles. He has parts if needed and seemed to be able to get anything he didn’t have in stock.

He also had several models and calibers in stock.

new guy here,optics question

I recommend considering Hawke AirMax 4-12x50 AO as a comparison. I have several on my PCPs and their ladder and dot reticles provide more than enough increments for 25 to 160 meters.

Since I don't know your preferences or type of shooting, I can only suggest that this may be an option.

I've had (and still have) a number of other scopes, including AirMax30 6-24x50SF with the AMX reticle. The 6-24 lacks sufficient elevation range when at 24x so I only use that for spotting. Likely, someone with a younger brain could make use of the 24x at shorter ranges but I find that I am better with the same scope on all my guns. I switch guns frequently when at the range and using a different scope makes for issues in coping,

*Edit: The cross bars on the lower reticle help a lot in judging windage when shooting beyond 115 meters in the wind.

I second the Hawke scope recommendation. They are great scopes, have a lifetime warranty and work very well on air guns.

I really like the 2-7x32 Hawke Airmax front AO. Small, lightweight, bright, great reticle and pairs perfectly with the BKL droop mount. I usually shoot at 4x or 6x out to 100 yards.

The killer will be a night vision scope.
Good one costs as much or more than the gun.

Alternative is several solar powered motion sensing lights. Rats probably are too small but raccoons will turn them on and my experience is the light does not affect them.
I could not come close to justifying the cost of a night vision scope, so I just did this.

Which would youchoose - Diana Bandit .177 or combo .22 vs Marauder .22vsUmarex Notos .22UPDATE: NOTOS FOR THE WIN! Which Red Dot?

1. You only can use one arm/hand to load, add air, and shoot at squirrels at a distance of 25-35 yards while standing at back door. Accurate and ease of use is priority (right arm not working yet)

2. The guns must be stock a PCP Pistol ( favorite/necessary grips are ok along with scope/red dot)

3. If you have another pcp pistol preference please advise which one and where to get in USA and why you believe it is better. Must not be over$499. Is it really 200-300 $ better?
Definitely Notos for all the reasons mentioned above. It checks all the right boxes for you. Its the perfect size gun for the job.

Notos....small, light, compact, regulated, quiet and accurate right out of the box with many after market mods/parts available. Way over your budget would be an HW44....
