Resources  Mac1 USFT shooting techniques???

LD has come up with a new tune that cures the "farts". It involves using a shorter and stiffer hammer spring that allows for "free floating" the last 1/8" of the hammer swing. Now you get a quick "pop" and no double bouncing of the hammer on the firing valve pin. Depending on the stiffness of the hammer spring, you might need to have a heavier hammer or adjust the transfer port to get the FPS you are looking for.

You don't want the hammer spring creating pressure on the valve pin when the gun is un-cocked. You want 1/8" of free play before the hammer spring pushes the hammer into the valve pin when un-cocked.
I switched to a shorter, stronger spring that has 1/8" free play about a year ago. I did it to reduce the very loud report I get from my unregulated shooting at about 1300 psi, where I get the best accuracy from my .20 LW barrel. It quieted a bit but is still louder than others' USFTs, and much louder than my Thomas. I also tried adding pads to the valve cover to attempt to dampen the hammer as it hits the valve cover but it increased FPS spreads. Even at higher pressures, e.g., 1500psi, and shooting for 20 FPE, I still have a loud report. Can't figure out how to tame it better.

RAW Rapid  Are higher powered PCP's more difficult to shoot accurately?

Haha a little nutty, I like that wording. Good tip on starting out slow. Guns do seem to get angry( as I call it) or nutty once you push them past a certain point. Then they just aren’t quite the same to shoot. Always finding that balance point or preference

Rob
This is what I did to my impact. It was just harsh. Sure you can make stuff work way up in it's performance envelope, but at what cost.....(fortunate son playing in my head as I have a flashback to all the work)

That's why I didn't push the raw further. I've had these perfect tunes a few times and spoiled them in myPcp career and I knew that THAT gun was in its happy place.

A word to the lurkers who haven't gone crazy tuner yet :
A harmonically tuned gun working right at the middle of its potential performance envelope is worth it's weight in gold, don't fixate in a certain velocity or energy numbers if it's using the projectile you want and it's super precise and consistent..... Unless you're very dedicated to getting something nutty to work right. (vetmx for sure has, and I have too) ya I have a 55-75 fpe 22 impact now.... I can't shoot in most of my scenarios due to its power and it's not as enjoyable as it was in a 20-50fpe trim. I don't shoot any farther ranges and it takes my quarry all the same as it did when it was was forgiving and buttery smooth.(the entirety of the shot event)

All Things PARD Night Vision & Thermal Optics - Master Thread

I just downloaded it. I'll install it this afternoon thanks a lot!

The firmware is installed Now i can go to 102 but this is still about 40-50 short to get it zero on 25m. Any ideas or do i have a bad unit maybe? Or is my airgun too far off?
I run all adjustable with my Pards. Eaglevision with the 008 and Vector Optics rings with my DS35.

Airforce  IS AIRFORCE GAINING POPULARITY AGAIN?

Speaking of Airforce I’m try to do a custom condor project n I’m having hard time getting my reg in the right position. Any suggestions on how to get it to clock where I want it?
I bought m18 washers of varying thickness from AliExpress. Then used them as shims.

Macavity Arms  Have A Macavity Arms MA2 PCP Air Rifle? You Must Read This!

My mistake, tank does not have a sleeve, it's an aluminum tube (magnet doesn't stick) with a .125" wall thickness. 6gun, looks like you are correct about the gauge block but the tube is not steel. Pics to follow.
Now THAT seems super sketchy. Aluminum has a personality that I wouldn't want to be putting more than 2k psi in at a 125 wall thickness unless it was fiber wrapped. I'm not a material science engineer, but I've made enough things fail over the course of my life. I was sketched out when I cleaned rust out of my mrod tube when I was younger.

Sweet Baby Jesus! Just got my Vulcan 3 HP 200 bar regulator!!

So I got it shooting pretty tight spreads on the Chrono now I just got it take it out to the range and see how it groups
at this setting. I could have got a little bit more speed but the spreads opened up a little bit so I backed it off a tad.

There's the size difference between the two regulators.

Stupid me I didn't double check the operating pressure on the new reg, they said it came set at 200 bar but one of these days I'll check it

It was about 85 yards away so I would pass, maybe if it was under 40 yards but the 177 is only about 27 fpe and by 85 yards it probably lost a good percentage of that
I understand. I was just agreeing with what he said with the hypothetical “it has more gofast juice.” Starting at 27fpe it would have to be a really spectacular shot at 85y.

If he’s hunting desert dogs I agree. The ones I see here in SW Utah/Arizona strip/nevada border are not the Saskatchewan mini wolves I’ve seen online. They’re a bit more scraggly and smaller. Don’t get me wrong you see a 40lbs+ male occasionally but mostly like 25-35lbs… with the right slug I don’t think that’s a problem.

How did he "come up with it", if the issue had already been addressed by Tim? and how come he didn't inlcude it in the "LD Custom" guns? I hope it's not another case of - All successes are because of me, and all failures are because of someone's fault - type logic so characteristic of that... Shall we say, "industry"..
