You know squirrel and deer season is over when....

I don't know where you live, but here in New Mexico, squirrel season is NEVER over!
Luckily, I don't have any nut trees in my yards, or even close to me. The nearest one is about 100 yards away. My neighbor (diagonally across the street—caddywhompus in Texas talk) has a few dozen lingering around. While I do help her trap them, I'm really tempted to shoot the nutters with my near-silent 397/TKO/LDC!
As for the deer, I think they're cute. But.... Sometimes, they're a real pain. They eat all manner of vegetation, including roses thorns and all, iris, daffodils (which they love), and tomato plant flowers. My friends in the hill country of Texas always have a full larder of venison. Shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why!
Incidentally, squirrels can't swim, but I try to get them too every time I dump the trap!

Happens every year. Fortunately this one took a dirt nap while the season was still in. Nice buck Plinker!!

I'm in Ohio and squirrel ends in February. One can pest all the time, but can't take the meat so I'll wait till back in season. Kinda like planting a garden but cant eat the vegetables....

Yes, saw a few squirrels swim. When I was a kid, my cousin swore rabbits couldn't swim either. Watched many swim creeks and rivers to avoid the beagles when rabbit hunting.

IRIS flowers are poison for deer and squirrel . I know they will dig them up but not eat them.
