WRABF…..ERABSF…..USARB 25 meterTarget post 11/30/15

The iltalian rest has a completely different feel to it - but is equally as responsive as the SEB NEO -
both track easily across the horizontal plane as well a vertically -but with the CICOGNANI, you use a thumb knob to set the horizontal plane and with the SEB NEO you use the 2 side knobs to raise and lower the major tracking .......
I think if you try the CICOGNANI you'll find that it is a functional work of art -
But they are just 2 different styles.
'If I hadn't ordered the SEB NEO - I'd have fell in love with the Italian rest -
if your interested Ken -send me an email or text -
hell you'd be the first person in the United States to own one!
Also no need to wait 6 months to a year !
Cheers

im really trying to cut way down on my inventory in the gun room.

Shot a few cards today at the local range. Wind, WIND! Oh my the wind! Guy at the next bench had a meter, when it was steady it was between 10-15mph, when it gusted it was >25mph. Mostly coming left right, with some switches towards the front, then back from behind. Wild! No flags, no sense in bringing any since I can't put more than one out at 5y. Put some masking tape on the bottom of the frame that quickly got whipped and stuck to its self, lol.

Still having fits picking up the shifts and intensity of the winds. Each card got a little better even if the wind didn't. All in all it was a great outing and great practice!

"Salticon"Shoot the more sighters!!! I can see the wind changes in your shots... craziness!
Maybe when I get my SEB I'll be able to do that more often. With the crank and crack and crank, by the time I move off a bull to a sighter and back to the bull the winds changed again. With a coaxial I hopeful I can do the whip n whip and get a shot off.

Well I finally got my new toy yesterday - but don't have my shooting rig here- 😫
So I mounted the camera setup on my Beaumont .223 - and unfortunately can't fire it in my back yard - even suppressed the sonic boom would make for unhappy neighbors!
but thought I'd show her off - the Camera adaptor is made by a company called TorryPine ( EagleEye) and utilizes a GoPro Hero 4 for the video recording - kind of overkill in this set up though - since there is no need for 4K resolution, I've got it turned Down to 720p and narrow plus 60 frames per second ----
anyway it was great to track from Bull to Bull without actually looking through the ocular of the scope- simply look at the IPad
i cant wait to post some live action video to show the holdovers and such ---

cheers

CK, one of the club members here has one too. He was having fits being able to use his scope with it, to get a clear picture on the preview (iPad) he had to go way out of focus for his eye. Not sure if it was operator error on his part (he was rushed in setting up), or "that's just the way it is" or just the scope he was using at the time didn't work well with it. I have forget to ask him if he ever got that resolved or not.

So my question to you is, can you use your scope with it mounted, i.e. forget it using the iPad to aim or you have to use the iPad preview to aim?

What I would LOVE to do is have a way to film the wind flags, get a actual reading of the wind and have the site picture and impact recorded. The wind changes around here can be so fast that you check the flags, sight and fire only to see your pellet impact very differently than expected, re-check the flags and they are more or less the same. So I start questioning rather I had a bad pellet, missed a wind change, am misreading what I see or just shanked it. Then be able to combine the video into a single screen so you can see the wind in real time compared to the doping and impact. I would hope seeing all the information would be a great learning tool.

Well Percula -I hurried the setup - because I wanted to make sure this set up would work before I tossed the boxes -
and I probably won't get my rig back for another week ??
but the photo you see is what I see -

i had to fidget with the setup parameters to get this clarity? I'd still like it to be much sharper though? But this will suffice for punching paper -not sure about live action sequences shooting game or other off the bench activities -
but it was a very cloudy day as well. Understanding that the device is nothing more than prism's and the unit is completely dependent on the amount of light gathered .
i think I'll try removing the sunshades as well- also would love to check it out on a sunny day.
i used the March Scope set at 50X so I had to go into settings and place the format on narrow and instead of 1200p - used 720 ----
this seemed to help greatly - but it's essential for the ocular of the scope to really line up with the rubber mount of the Eagle Eye device -
I did take some video but unfortunately wasn't able to actually shoot the rifle.
Heres a sample -and I never looked through the scope once only looking at the iPad to scroll across the target!, kinda neat. But I wonder about the USARB rules as it would relate to such a device? The no Electronics ...
Also setting the magnification slightly lower would probably improve resolution as well?
The Hero 4 is a 4K camera capable of astounding video --
just not sure the system design will work well in low light situations
also this Go Pro is a bit of overkill for this Eagle Eye setup- I think the basic go pro would have sufficed ?
Hope your friend got it figured out but if he needs an assist aim him my way, might be able to help ?

Almost forgot - yes you can shoot the rifle without the iPad- simply looking through the rear ocular as normally you'd do.
and it would be great to have a program that would show you in live time where to place you crosshairs -
with wind transducers mounted along the shooting lane - but that's why the rules were changed to dis allow anything coming down the pike that would really take the shooter out of the game 😬
Shoot your match from the comfort of home so to speak!

I don't see anything in the rules saying you can't use it without wind inputs. It is for sure allowed in the unlimited class, and pretty sure it would be fine in the other classes as well. There is nothing specifically saying anything about cams and scopes.

But if you want to tie it to wind meters and have a rest that adjusts based on wind then well, only unlimited class...

I got a PM from the other user and he returned a defective product and is expecting the replacement today.

That's always a bummer - defective equipment - sometimes turns you off to getting a replacement -
but I can definitely see that in shipping this could become misaligned - using mirrors to capture images -
any shift will cause poor quality photos --
guess it's an indication as well, to be very careful in handling ?
thats assuming something happened to it in transit as opposed to leaving the factory in a defective state ?

Thanks Jimmy!
was really tempted to unload a few rounds - or try and remount the cam on another setup -
thought about the Steyr -but there isn't enough space between the last ring/mount and the scope cam bracket ....
i just love the idea of sitting in the chair - and watching the iPad - and squeezing them off-
save from getting a kink in my neck! LOL -
'I think it will be a great learning tool as well -
also have the ability to do slow mos -
cheers
