Just curious what determines if someone is a dealer? At least in terms of selling in the classifieds. I understand someone selling their rifles or other goods as previously owned. What I’m curious about is when an “individual” lists multiple “new” rifles for sale. Not just one or two but several over a short period of time. Are they not acting as a dealer? It seems to me they are using the forum to sell product for profit and not having to be considered a “dealer” and follow the requirements of being a “dealer”. I would draw the analogy of car sales. People who sell more than “x” number of cars within 12 months time period in any state are considered a dealer (if only a used car dealer) and are required to get a license and follow dealers rules and regulations. I can’t imagine that those people who have made the investment in time and money to operate an airgun business look too kindly on seeing individuals undercutting them on forums and other outlets where they spend money to advertise and build their business and reputation.

Who do you see doing this, and does it affect your bottom line?

It does not affect my bottom line in the least as I am a glazing contractor. It was just an observation on my part.

Gotcha just wondering what motivates other adult to tatle tale(I know you didn’t name names) is all. I’m not immune to it either. Look at the hubub over the Steyr posts in the classifieds from last week.

It was those posts that got me wondering.  It also amuses me that people read something and accept that what is written is fact without checking. For example the Steyr Hunting 5 semiauto rifle. I checked with a dealer and I can buy that exact rifle from a dealer with only 2 magazines and no magazine holder for almost $300.00 less than he wants to sell his rifle for. Basically the same price brand new from a dealer. I can look at and test it out before I decide if I want to buy it or not. Buyers beware and do your homework. Nothing personal. I don’t begrudge anyone trying to make a buck. Just got me wondering that’s all.

Good deal and I agree, though sometimes, and with niche markets like these people assume it’s going to be expensive and stop there. We’ve all been screwed over at least once and I would prefer others don’t have to go through the same thing. A similar thing is happening on facebook right now with their classifieds groups were commercial dealers and businesses are offering goods and services as if they are private sellers and it makes finding the deal near impossible because they fill the pages with their retail priced ads.

I’ve had numerous conversations with the seller in question. I came to the conclusion that he bought more rifles then he has time to shoot. If you continues to list new rifles then it will be stopped.

As far as dealers selling products, they are only allowed to use the Announcements and Specials section. They cannot use the Member classified section.

The poster I’m not worried about. With Krales a known site these days trying to sell items well above available retail is almost pointless. He will end up keeping the gun, taking a loss or taking a fool for his money. Either way I know you’re on point Micheal and didn’t mean to cast aspersions or diminish how well you and your Mod’s run this site.
