Welcome to AIRGUN NATION - please introduce yourself here!

Hello Yooper ,
No I have not went after prairie dogs yet, but I would if the opportunity were to come up.

What I have done was shot some of these "Stripy Tails" that burrow in my yard. I really don't know what the real name is but they look like a ground squirrel with a short tail. In fact I shot several last summer from my deck. I noticed my old springer that I have had for years was not as accurate as it used to be and that is what sent me on the hunt for a new air rifle. I will be "locked and loaded" this spring with my new gun and I am going to rain down destruction on those critters when the weather warms up!

I have not got into PCP's yet Yooper. I stayed with a high quality springer. If the compressors ever come down to the $200 level I would be interested. I am to broke to pay what they are asking and to OLD to HAND PUMP.

Geezer,
I know what you mean about being short on cash for toys. A year ago I bought a air force talon p and made a bullpup stock for it right away. The talon p is just too large to be a pistol, but makes one dandy carbine. This thing is amazingly accurate and serious power! I also made a bullet mould that throws a 33 grain bullet which shows some promise.
The little striped varmints in your yard are ground squirrels . They will eat your garden as well as bore holes in real estate. Fair targets. I have a ongoing feud with Starlings after my bird feeders. Since I live in town I sniper them out of the second floor window when I can. Oh yes, I built a moderated for the Talon p which really quiets the bark. Let me know if you would like to see photos.
Good luck,
yoopper

Good day gentlemen, my name is Jamie and I live in a rural area called Suffolk in England. Im an electrician by trade but my first job is being a father to my two children and husband to a very understanding wife....
I hunt feather to fur around local farms and although my shotguns/ hmr/ .243 are excellent tools airguns have been my passion for years. I shoot a 15 year old John Bowkett tuned 30ft/lb BSA S10 in .22, its amazingly consistant for such an old rifle but with the 500cc bottle and quick fill kit it is also amazingly heavy. Being a working man has taken its toll on my elbows and as such ill soon be taking the step over to either a wildcat or impact in an attempt to make life easier, and with just about every internet search leading me here I thought it was time I joined!

Hello kaylaindy,

That does sound like a GREAT deal!

I have already bought a RWS 48, it came in Thursday and I LOVE it! I think the PCP's are for you young bucks (and bucketts). I will stay with the springers as long as my arm hold out.
I am shooting better with that RWS48 than I thought POSSIBLE! It is a wonderful ting to hold a QUALITY rifle in your hands!

Thanks for the heads up

Geezer

H8i all, Bill here, have always been fascinated with air guns. Thirty year Navy vet. Had a Crossman pump up when I was a kid that I used all the time. Bought a Marlin 22 cal. 39a (firearm) rifle in the mid 60''s and found I seldom got to use it. Was introduced to quality springers during a three year tour in Scotland. Since then have had a Webley hurricane pistol (stolen), a Beeman FWB124D air rifle (still have) and a RWS P5 magnum pistol (still have). All are springers. Medical issues have rendered my springers un-usable to me and the weight and balance of the airgun has become a major issue. I went with a Crossman .22 cal. 2250 (co2 and shoulder stock) and a similar .177 cal. Crossman 2300t (again with a shoulder stock). I'm retired now and really enjoy them for backyard use. I am fascinated by the PCP''s but unsure about the handling, weight, balance and charging.

Hi y'all,

I'm an outboard motor tech from central Mo. (Lake of the Ozarks).
Getting back into air rifles and trying to learn some things since I haven't touched one since childhood.
Just purchased a Gamo Swarm (the first to get me back into this) but it looks like I'll be aquiring a few more before long unless my interest fades.....which is unlikely.

Y'all are mostly talking over my head now, but I learn pretty fast.

hi fishingwrench you'll love the swarm I've gpt well over 3000K pellets in it ans still shoot all inside a quarter @ 21yards so far I've only use Crossman premier and Gamo Red Fire (those are the only pellets available at my walmart the scope that came with it still holding up but I've since replace it with an hawke airmax. I've been gathering comments on my first PCP the Gamo Urban and what kind of hassle I can expect if I get the hand pump my first choice was the Umarex Gaunlet but those are back ordered till doomsday and I will not go the pre order route cause bad experience (fool me once)

Hi my name is Kenny. Bromly is my p.c. gaming name. I'm 52 now and just got back into airguns. My last one was a crossman 766 I think. I believe I was 14 when I got it, so its been a while. Boy have things changed. I just got a new Springer, it's the Hatsan 135 .30 cal. Holly crap is this gun a blast to shoot. I'm also looking to get started in the Pcp guns. They seem to be the cats meow!
Anyways I'm happy to have found you guys and thank you for having me!

Kenny
