Welcome to AIRGUN NATION - please introduce yourself here!

Marcella69, indeed we have take a similar path on our PCP journey. I also have all the "associated" goodies too, minus the air compressor to fill my tank but the scuba shop I use just charges me 3 dollars a fill so I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of a compressor when weighed against a very minimal cost to fill my "Great White", (gotta love the names), tank.

I also took advantage of the SWFA Tax sale and picked up a couple of scopes and replaced my Hawke on the Vulcan with one and have one waiting for the RAW HM1000x which is now arriving on Monday! Can't wait to get that baby in my hands!

Howdy names Jim and I'm from west central Mn,my hobbies are camping, hunting, fishing,Harley's,Hot rods and a few others. A few years ago I suffered heart problems CAD and I'm on my 2nd pacemaker I also have a fused and plated neck with a Morphine pump in my lower back to help with the chronic pain so now my interests have changed a bit,I've taken up long rang target shooting(6.5 Creedmoor)and lately have found myself shooting my old .177 Sport,I picked up a Benjamin.22 nitro this winter and have been shooting that but now I have my eye on a Benjamin Marauder in .22 and the PCP itch doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon,I also bought 12.7 acres of land this winter so now I have my own place to camp and shoot so now I can stay out of the wife's way hahaha.
Anyway I have been lurking for a while and finally decided to join.

Hi all,
I am just starting airguns 1,5 year ago and like it very much and also started to join competition at 110 yards, using a FX Boss which i converted a little
doing well , had already first place in the naked class, which is without connected bottle, shooting 30 pellets and some 20 test pellets, but can do at least 70 shots with it.
like to tune airguns, for more power or efficiency .
also read a lot in here

Thank you Bruce ! I know its been awhile since your post and now...i was just going back to revisit when i saw your post and i see you also deserve a salute! Yes it is a lot of work but no one would do it the same way...you know that. Someone might have to do it out of need for a pay check and they to deserve a salute but its different when its out of love and compassion... thanks again Bruce may GOD bless you and yours.

Hello folks. I'm new to airguns, have shot powder burners all my life. I have a RWS model 48 in .22 ordered that should arrive today. I had been looking at air rifles off and on for a couple years and finally decided to buy one. It will be used for sparrows, starlings, squirrels in my pecan trees and plinking. I'm looking forward to learning about the sport from the fine folks here.

Thanks, Justin

Hello from Michigan and a bit of long story is coming. My experience with air guns is long but limited. Moved into a semi rural neighborhood back in 1982 that had a terrible feral cat problem. It was a difficult problem because I like cats. But the night fights, the pissing all over doors marking territory and the constant litters which led to more fighting and more pissing were too much. My solution was an RWS model 45 in .177 which I bought somewhere around the mid 80s though it might have been as early as 83. I couldn't believe a pellet gun could shoot the way that gun shot. Over a two year period it just about eliminated the feral cat problem. But that is about all I did with the gun save to teach my boys to shoot and as they grew other sports took over and it was assigned to the closet and as my firearm arsenal grew, to the back of the safe. A few years ago it was rediscovered by my oldest son who decided he would borrow it. I'm sure there are other fathers here who know what that kind of "borrowing" means. Anyway it was fine as I spent my shooting time with long range firearms and rim fires out to 3 and 400 yards as practice for the bigger guns.

So now it's spring of 2017 and I'm opening up the fifth wheel that is permanently situated on Lake Leelanau and a certain red squirrel, who for the two winters previous to this past one had built himself a 3 inch deep carpet of shredded pine cones in the trunk, this past winter decided to move inside. When I popped open the door to go inside for the first time this spring I could hear something running through the AC ducts in the ceiling and then out and across the roof. He then parked himself in a tree and barked at me for over an hour while we loaded up the stuff from home. He didn't really destroy anything other than to piss and crap everywhere but that was bad enough. Had to sanitize the carpet and give everything a scrub. So I decided that the best solution would be the ole model 45. But it had been "borrowed" by number one son who insisted that Kalamazoo was under an invasion of chipmunks that was only slightly less severe than the Zombie Apocalypse and besides, he insisted, I gave the gun to him. Uh Huh!

Well every crisis is an opportunity and so I went surfing for a new air gun. WOW! things have changed since the 1980s I was like a kid on his first trip to Toys R Us. That surfing led to researching and on and on until I googled "air gun forums" which led me here where I've been reading for the past few weeks getting a free education. That sealed it and I was hooked. This morning I called AOA and bought a 340 N-Tec .22 which should show up in Michigan sometime next week. I stuck with a Springer because I prefer (at least for now) to be self contained. Anyway that red squirrel will be just the start of what I think/hope will be another fun part of the shooting hobby.

Great forum and I'm glad to have found it!

Dan here, powder burner from CT, waiting for my airgun to arrive. I have a small order from AOA coming next week:. I basically did not have time to spec out or research my own build so I took cues from one of the guys who posts a bunch of U-Tube videos save for the camera set up because I cannot decide between the "Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV 20.1 MP Digital Still Camera" or the "CASIO Digital Camera EXILIM EX-100FBK"
  1. FX Impact Black in.30 calliber with .25 barrel kit
  2. Sidewinder tactical 6.5 20x42 plus FX No limit mounts
  3. Hugget 1/2" UNF
  4. Steel bullet box, targets, and a few tins of JSB for each caliber and weight within each caliber
  5. Atlas Bi Pod with ADM 170S Lever
  6. Extra high cap magazines
  7. Omega Air Cylinder 75 cubic feet 4500 psi tank
  8. Omega Turbo Charger Compressor

"GMRonWeasley"Todd here.... a newbie from Southwest Louisiana

Got hooked on air gunning after watching Ted and others on youtube. Bought my first PCP not to long ago: Hatsan AT44-10 QE Long. I use it for pesting and enjoy shooting targets. Question: Would installing a regulator make the gun more accurate? Would it increase my usable shot count? Huma or Hatsan regulator?
Small order?????? You must have robbed a bank, LOL.

Bruce,

Cash outlay no different than buying a Wilson Supergrade or my Cabot Clone Commander. I have great set up around my house, protected wetlands and conservation forest, teeming with squirrels and other pests. Plus herds or deer, ten or twelve at a time. I have no plans for the deer, but plenty for the pests. Which is why I am looking very closely at which camera set up to go with here.

I suspect my impact will be my most used weapon, the only one I can shoot on my property.

When I say "I have plans for the pests" I am not kidding around here. It's simple, and it started a few years ago. But not really. Our intent has always been to provide a limitless amount of food for birds during the winter months. Thus we have had a few large bird feeders in the back yard, which are always full of food during the winter months. We spend at least $100 on birdseed each winter, for the past two years it's been more like two hundred. The above said, birds are not the only animals that congregate around our feeders, as squirrels are ever present underneath, scrounging the seeds that have fallen. Two years ago, they discovered how to climb up, hang from the feeders, and knocking down as much as half of the food in the feeders at one time. It all clicked as I thought about Ted's upper mid west bird supply. About a month ago it hit me. If I build it they will come. Starting now, I will redouble my efforts, putting ample food out to correspond with the squirrel breeding cycles.

In a few years time, the end result will be that I have created a "happy hunting ground" for myself. Upper mid westerners have a limitless supply of pests because there is a massive food source for the birds - the multitude of farms in that area of the country provide an 'ocean' of food, resulting in the limitless supply of birds. Though I could never replicate that with my squirrel population, I will hopefully succeed on a micro level, growing a large excess population of squirrels in my 'back forty'.

Hi, guys!

My name is Nikolay and I'm from Russia, Moscow. I've catch the airgun illness in 2012 ;) Many PCP's I've had (Kalibrgun Crickets (Bullpups and Carabine), Jagers (.177, .22, .25, .25 for slugs), Raptor, FX Bobcat etc. and in any case my aim was to tune these airguns up to achieve ultimate accuracy with them.

I'm fan of Airgun Varmint Shooting. The rules are easy. You have round targets sized 4cm (1,575"). These tagers are set up outdoors every 5 meters on the distances from 50 to 120 meters. You have 20 shots and 15 minutes to hit as much targets as you can.

The second interest of mine is grouping shooting for 100 and more meters (109,4 yard).

My best result is 1 MOA with 10 shots twice one by one with .22 caliber and JSB 1.175g (18gr).

And 0,7 MOA - 10 shots with .25 caliber and 2,2g (33,95gr).

I'm glad to be here and hope that will find new comrades in airgun shooting hobbies here.

With best wishes,
Nikolay RusBear.

Hi, dwarthog; I didn't even notice your post to me two weeks ago! I was actually in the process of replying to RusBear when I saw your post! Man, I guess you've had your RAW HM 1000x for almost two weeks now, huh? Which one did you get? I'm dyin' to talk to somebody who has the new .357 130 fpe regulated, but they're all beautiful! How do you like your RAW? I've heard nothing but good things. You've probably seen this before, but in case you haven't (Hell, I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it; gotta love gun pic!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ThVmbsMEB4. Sandra told me there was a 10 week lead time on my baby when I ordered her three weeks ago. I think there is a shortage of Forest laminates, but I really like that look with the thumbhole. I also got the adjustable cheek piece and spare bottle and mag. (Martin threw in a free mag on top of that, so now I get 32 regulated .22lr rimfire ballistics shots with 21 pre-loaded pellets in the field!) My dream finally came true ;-).

I just got tired of the shoddy service I was getting at the dive shop, plus it would never fill my tank past 4K psi. I really like having an on-demand source of air :). Now that I'm getting into the big bores, my air consumption is quite voluminous, as they say. I couldn't be happier with my Omega Air Charger. She's very quiet, runs cool, and fills my Omega 75 cu-ft 4,500 psi carbon fiber tank from 3,200 psi to 4,500 psi in 45 minutes.

Hi, Marcella69!
According to our laws air guns can be from 3 to 25J - thats as of laws. You can buy and use guns with 3 - 7J without any permission or license if you are 18+ age. If you have gun with 7 - 25J you've got to receive hunting licence. Guns above 25J are permitted.

But if to speak about real situation - all airguns are certificated as guns with muzzle power BELOW 3J! And according to our laws every gun that has power below 3J is a toy - no need to have special permission to own or use it. In reality most shooters have airguns with 40 - 100J+ power + certificate and use them normally. There is no way to prove that you have made changes to get 3J+ energy, so if you have certificate, everything is OK. ;) In Russia we have saying: "severity of the Russian laws is mitigated with a non-obligation of their execution"

Many people use .308, .45 and .50 caliber PCP airguns for hunting...
