Well most of us anyway,, I myself just do not like attracting attention to my hobby,
This guy seems to be on top of the game with his LDCs , I am running two fat boys , One on my Mutant 22 and another on my 25 Cricket.
and a six inch on my 22 cricket all in carbon fiber,
Just something to check out , OH and just for cool factor you have to check out the FAT BOY ,
Oh the guy Donny is 100% in the sport , So he is easy to deal with.

Iride, the FatBoy is a great LDC for the Mutant. It quiets down this already quiet gun to something quite remarkable. If you want even quieter, (yes it is possible) I used a Weihrauch LDC, and it truly is the quietest platform I have. I know it is not scientific, but I compared the mutant with Weihrauch LDC to the P-Rod and weihrauch LDC which is half the power of the Mutant. I used a db meter on my IPhone, and The mutant and weihrauch LDC was quietest at 86db and the P-Rod was at 88db . You can actually hear the difference. The FatBoy I think can be improved to perform better. I believe the matting that is used inside is too dense so that volume is not maximized, and the center section needs the baffle washers closer together so that there are two larger chambers either side of the smaller chamber. I am going to play around with the baffle spacing and will use some 1/8" felt and metal hair curlers to test it.

Donny is the bomb!

He built a shroud / LDC combo for my cricket .25.....all you could hear was a little puff of air. Super stealth!

I put his 6" LDC on my Vulcan 25, and same thing, just super quiet.

He then built me a custom LDC for my WAR Flex .30.....this made an over 85 ft lb gun actually damn near backyard friendly. I've owned .22 pcp' rhat we're louder than this.

His customer support is awesome, and just a cool guy to talk to in general.

If you need an LDC, he is your man!!!!!

Depending on the gun, I've come to appreciate the WildWest shroud extension for a few reasons. First, they are surprisingly effective considering the relatively simple baffle design and small diameter.

Second, they don't stand out against the gun design. They are made to look like a shroud extension instead of a separate device. They screw into the end cap threads of the existing shroud.

Third is that they are among the least expensive at $80. I hesitate to use the word "cheap" because I think all LDCs are too expensive for what they are in America. I've seen similar devices in the UK for $30. At the end of the day, we are talking about a tube with cut up bits of smaller tube inside. Paying $200 is madness.

Fourth is that they are light. The plastic baffles make it feel like a feather compared to my larger LDCs. This isn't just a matter of comfort. A heavy LDC is far more likely to cause a poi shift.

I see no point in investing any more for a 22 cal when these work so well. The Ataman Ultra compact was ear ringing loud and now it's backyard friendly. The mechanical noise from the auto indexing mag sounds louder on some days.

I got one a while back from UK it was super light and on the end it said , for air gun use only 30 Jules, I think I spelled that right ,
Made my Cricket 22 like a shot gun, LOL, I did the clip test with paper and the pellet looked good , So I drilled the end hole bigger, It shot better,
I then drilled very small holes near the base about six, and made the end hole even bigger,
BINGO, worked great, back to shooting pecans at 50 yards, I still got it, Does not work as good as Donny's LDC
But I think I only paid 30 bucks for it.

I also use Donny's LDC's on my Crickets/Vulcans... Vulcan has the factory shroud with the adapter from Talon Tunes. The Crickets have Donny's CF Shrouds/adapters. They are all mouse-fart quiet. Donny sent me his early design to test and it was good... He later upgraded/changed the baffles and venting holes and sent those to me too... My .25's make 2 sounds... hammer slap on the valve stem at the shot break, then whatever the pellet hits... The pellet impact is often LOUD! Shooting a coon up side the head at 50 yards makes a heck of a rackit! Shooting anything in or on the water sounds like someone slapping the water with the flat edge of a boat paddle!! All my guns are back yard friendly, but the pellet impacts are NOT!

.

I bought a Suppressor off E Bay for $ 40.00 that was shipped from Poland. It looked great and fit the barrel perfect. First few Shots where real quite. But I don't think it was made for the Power of a Condor. After a number of shots the baffles started coming lose. So I am looking for a better suppressor that can take the Pressure of a Condor. No I won't return the Suppressor because it wasn't the Manufactures fault I installed it on a High Powered Air Gun.

"amoxom"Donny FL LDC for a high power airgun. The baffles he uses are made from stainless washers, metal tubing, and industrial felt.
stands up well to my .25 Vulcan . Not sure what caliber you are shooting on the condor.

Ditto on this....I was running his new designed LDC on my 85 ft lb .30 cal Flex with no issues. Donny is your man!

I've been planning to do this. This thread inspired me to do it now.

I have a free DB AP on my iPhone. I know probably not super accurate but comparable sounds should be interesting.

The DB reading here at my computer is 46-47. When the clothes drier in the next room just kicked on it went to 57 DB.

I put the phone in front and to the side of the muzzle about 18". I shot both my Daystate Air Wolf MCT in .22 on hi-power. Then I shot the FX Wildcat .25.

Wolf- 90 & 90 DB, 2 shots. (Factory Airstream LDC and Shroud by A0A)
FX - 89-92, 2 shots (1 shroud extension - as the rifle came from A0A)

I thought they both sounded very quiet and similar. My phone AP backs this up. Pretty identical. I do notice, but didn't shoot over the phone, that the lower power setting on the Wolf MCT is noticeably more quiet than the hi-power. The Wolverine B Hi-Lite with a DU LDC is obviously less quiet but it is a higher power rifle (45 FPE vs 42 FPE in my Wildcat - both .25).

We often hear that "my gun makes less noise than the pellet striking the target". So, I went back downstairs to my range (12 yard shot) and put the phone with DB AP about 12" from the target. I shot the Air Wolf MCT .22 and the FX Wildcat .25 (same as above).

Here's what I found:

Ambient DB: 40 (more quiet than main level of house!)

--Air Wolf at .22 Pellet Trap (steel) - 106.8 DB
--Air Wolf at box of rubber mulch - 90.8 DB

--FX Wildcat .25 Pellet Trap - 107.8
--FX Wildcat .25 at box of rubber mulch - 89.7

In the rubber mulch the sound of these rifles near the muzzle is for all intents and purposes the same as hitting the mulch target. The metal trap is much louder of course.

I was a bit surprised that the difference in DB for the 18.1 grain .22 was just 1 DB less than the 25.39, .25 pellet. The FPE of these two rifles with these pellets is 42 with the Wildcat and 37 with the Wolf.

I realize none of this has improved my shooting skills but it sort of fun to know.

I learned about the boxing of rubber mulch here on AirGun Nation last year. It does work very well.

I have a very redundant back up system though (this is a walk-out, lodge-style house and the window behind this backstop wall is about $800!). My airgun range is really my 10-year old archery range. An arrow penetrates better than a bullett...try it with a sandbag sometime. The centerfire bullet will be stopped by the sand bag, the arrow will penetrate.

I have 2, back to back form archery target walls (about 6' wide by 2' deep). My pellet backstop is in front of these thick target butts. Behind the pellet box I put a section of 2'x10' board the size of the box. I've been shooting this for about a year. I don't shoot as much as folks here, probably less than 1,500 shots to date. But, there are no holes in the back of the cardboard box and of course then nothing has even made it to the board. I occasionally shake the box of mulch. So, I have four levels of protection to keep my pellets from meeting this window.

Yesterday I finally retired a "tempurpedic" memory foam bed pillow. I thought it would be a good pellet stop. I put it in FRONT of the pellet trap, board behind, and foam targets behind that. I took one shot from the Air Wolf. The pellet went completely through the pillow first shot. That pillow goes to the trash next stop....experiment failed.
