Can anybody please tell me if small amounts of water from my hand pump cause damage to my Regal PCP ? And does shooting the airgun until no air is left expel the water ?
Any moisture getting into your gun is going to cause corrosion. Shooting your gun until it is completely empty could damage the valve because of the lack of resistance. Your best bet is to take the nessesary steps to insure it doesn't happen. There are filters available for your pump.
That depends on how you fill it. Before you take the plunge and buy one make sure you have a place to get it filled. Most SCUBA shops don't do 4500 psi, some do. If you can find a source for 45 that supplies breathing air, you'll be fine.
When I used to pump with a pump, I went to fright harbor and bought a water filter very cheap, The F/H water filter was big news three or four years ago I am sure there is some info on it some where . Water in PCP guns is bad news Mike
There is only ONE 100 percent sure way to avoid moisture which is Welding Nitrogen in a 6K bottle. The next best is certified breathing air which is probably 99.99 percent certain. Hand pumps generally produce the "worst" air unfortunately unless used very carefully. That said many people use many "grades" of gasses to fill these guns with wildly variable moisture contents from various sources. For what some guns cost the manufacturers need to step up and produce the "gas" holding / handling components from non moisture reactive metals.
