Watch those creeks

So last evening I got a call from a landowner that the hogs were moving on his place and wanted me to come over and see if I could thin the heard.
It was already late but the moon has some good light and so thought I might do a little night stalking.
I don't like using a light when I am walking because it will spook the hogs and ruins my night vision I could here the little ones squealing and carrying on in front of me but wanted to get closer and was focused on seeing some movement and so did not realize the creek bed dropped as much as it did
The result a darn cold bath and a jammed up knee........ The bath I might have needed but the jammed up knee I don't.
Even worse yet perhaps because of the loud splash and not too quiet choice words I did not get any shots off at any pigs.
I was hoping to do some shooting this weekend but my wife put the kibosh on that idea and has restricted me to light duty for the weekend... Wonder if sitting in a blind all day counts as light duty...

Seriously it did bring home some hard knock points to mind I have walked around that place more times than I can count and know just about every game trail, dip and valley on it, still just a little slip up and not watching what I should have been got me a good dunking and what I hope is nothing more than a bruised knee and ego.
