It might be a little early to start but thought I would anyway... Some information for shooters, a place to post questions and a place to talk about all thing EBR 2017.

Common Questions
  • Where is it? Rio Salado Sportsman's Club Map
  • Are there any camping sites near by that I can stay at. Yes take a look here for more information.
  • How close is AoA to the EBR site? About 28 miles. Map with directions
  • The event is held in mid October what's the weather like there then? Forecast Expect the weather to be very nice. High's in the upper 80's to low 90's with the possibility of afternoon showers. This is the beginning of the "to die for" weather season here in Arizona. Be smart and have lots of water to drink, sunscreen and be smart about it. We have lots of people come here and die because they don't respect the heat, even in the milder fall temperatures.
  • What's the range like that the EBR is held at? The Rio Salado Sportman's Club is a nice facility located in a sonoran desert area near some hills/mountains. The sonoran desert is quite beauitful up close with a wide varity of wildlife, flora and fauna. Pictures of sonoran desert.
  • As someone visiting is there anything I should know? Lot's but some specifics to help keep you out of trouble.
  • There are lots of critters here that you do not want to get up close and personal with. Most things here are tough, they bite and sting. We have poisonous scorpions here, "killer" bees and poisonous lizards too. We have jumping cactus that if you get to close will launch their spines into you. We have rattle snakes, coyotes and javelina to boot all of which could be a problem is messed with.
  • General rule of thumb is enjoy, look, stay on the trails and don't touch unless you know exactly what you are messing with.
  • Is there anything else to do in the area? Oh my yes. The range is located in an Eastern suburb of the Phoenix/Scottsdale metro area. Fall and winter in this area other tons of places to see and actives for one and all.
  • Are there any other shooting related things in the area that I might want to go to? Yes. Rio Sio Salado Sportman's Club has one of the best sporting clays course in the US, unfortunately it will be closed for a competition during the EBR expect on Sunday. The Ben Avery complex is located in North Phoenix (map) and is the largest civilian shooting facility in the US. It has a nice public range and one of the best clay target facilities in the US offer American and international trap and sheet as well as (3) sporting clays courses.
  • Accommodations. This is a large metro area with all kinds of motels, hotels and resorts. Google is your friend here. Keep in mind that there is a seasonal demand for accommodations in the near, as the temperatures fall the prices rise! Book early to save money!
  • Public transportation? No not really at least nothing that is going to take to the EBR range and back. Public services like Uber and Lift as well as taxis and private cars are available in the area. Since the range is somewhat 'isolated" prepare accordingly for ride sharing services, aka not every driver is going to go there.
  • Dinning? Are you kidding? This is a destination area for fine dinning. You could literally eat at a different place every night and never go to the same place twice in a lifetime here! Let Google and other sites like Opentable guide you to your preferences.
  • Airports? There are two in the area that service the public, Sky Harbor and Mesa Gateway.
If you have questions, post them.

If you're coming to the EBR event post.

"Bizill"Will there be free compressed air?
AoA has in the past and expect them to do the same this year to have air tanks available for competitors to use. The local host club also has a massive compressor and will fill non-member tanks for a small fee. Normally that is $7 regardless the size of the tank, yes your tank needs to be safe and current in date to be filled.

"beeser"Good idea Percula. As a first time attender I would like to hear some advice on moving gear around at the event.
I use the Mac Sports collapsible folding wagon to haul my gear round on the range. Shop around, I picked mine up off Amazon only to see the day after at Costco for a lot less. It's easy to fold up and put in the back of my tiny sports car, holds everything I need. It's fairly easy to move around the range. I've had it about a year without any issue or noticeable wear.

About a month to go. Better get those hotel rooms reserved before prices jump from the tourist season. Going to be some stiff competition this year, the best shooters are shooting better than they ever have. I'm expecting a surprise or two when we see who and what is being shot this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 22cal in the top 5 this year.

I've got my Thomas tuned for the 25m competition now. Took a lot of testing and tweaking. Time to fine tune the RAW.

Just a "heads up" for those planning on attending the ERB...

Saturday the 14th, the range will also be hosting a sporting clays competition which will very likely be heavily attended... why do you care? The small bore range that the ERB is shot on is more or less next to the clay center. Parking will be hard to find. If you can car pool that day it's advisable ;) Their sport clays events tend to get a few hundred shooters...
