Umarex HDR50 T4E & RP5 - AEAC pics & commentary IWA 2018

Umarex USA, Inc. and Umarex Arnsburg unveiled two very interesting guns this week... a .50 cal home defense air pistol and a modular, platform-expandable pellet pistol/carbine. The HDR50 T4E home defense pistol is c02 powered and will happily stun an attacker with 50 cal pepper balls & rubber projectiles. The modular RP5 also runs on cO2 and can be configured in a great many ways and with lots of cool Umarex accessories to choose from. Both felt great to the eye & hand and neither felt toy grade.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info Michael. I bought the T4E, thinking it was the HDR50, from Umarex a week or two ago. Didn't know we could not get the HDR50 in the US, sad. Does anyone know why that is?

I wanted something for home defense so I got some of the pepper balls and some steel shot. The 7 joule T4E doesn't seem like it will be much good at home defense though. The HDR50 demos I saw did seem to have enough power. I'm not good with tinkering so I don't want to kill myself by F'ing up my T4E! Any ideas?

The u tube upgrade vids are accurate. The t4e I bought from Nate is about 120 fps faster after I did the upgrade kit. Not as much of an increase as I hoped. But perfectly safe, it seems.

I wouldn't expect any explosions from install mistakes. What happened to me was once I pierced the co2, it just leaked out the indicator port. Then I put that piece back in, which I thought stayed removed. All hunky dory, but not gory since I have not the 30 fpe I was hoping for.

You won't get hurt working on it. But take it slow and steady as the guys show. Those tiny springs can be gone forever
