N00b question, any tips on how to label/ship a PCP? In particular, does the air tank have to be emptied completely?

All of my pcp guns came filled. I believe if it is ground you are okay. I would double box the gun for sure. Too many of my boxes have holes poked in them. It seems that boxes that are doubled make them stout enough to take most hits. Signature required would help if it was not going to a secured location.

I shipped several through ups double boxed, when asked what's inside I told them a pellet gun and got the oh we can't ship guns routine, then it's a matter of explaining I've received and sent before then they call the boss and everything wrks out! So far!!!

Good point about air vs ground.
I don’t want to be deceitful but now days people freak out about toy guns. Sporting good sounds like a good label. I read on another thread, someone called it a “pellet launcher”. Please share if you have other creative labels.

If you are going to insure the item, as I would suggest be done with any item worth more than $100, you need to be honest with what you are shipping. I use UPS, shipping from a store, and the local hub. Neither have denied me.

Double boxed. NO air USPS. With Air, GROUND Freight pnly! So UPS.
UPS it's self has NO problem shipoping airguns, firearms, other but you need to go to a REAL UPS shipping/receiving location, NOT a store front brownstore boxesRus whatever.
Last week I said ' Airgun" and the nice UPS Woman said " I'm going to put down pellet rifle on the insurance".
