So I'm out at my Buddies house and we shooting The Springers and making a day of it and just for the heck of it , I set aside my FWB and pick up his Bull Whisper ... A gun I KNOW will shoot as good as any cheap springer ive ever shot . And fired off my first pellet . Low left , no biggie I'm just shooting for group size .
Second shot Low Left and almost an inch fro my first shot ....Well that's odd , I normally always make pellets touch at 25 yards .
Third shot and Ive drawn some kinda weird triangle and no 2 pellets are close to touching . .....Finally finish a 10 shot group and no 2 pellets touch holes . ......Bad as I hate to admit it . I SUCK !!!!!!!
I haven't shot a normal springer in quite a while and was very humbled to know that my technique had went downhill so much . Couple guns later and about 100 shots and it was slowly coming back to me .........
My recoilless guns have made me sloppy . If all you shoot is 10m guns you forget the subtle things that help you get your best accuracy with a gun that vibrates when fired . You guys who shoot them every day have my respect for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was one very good upside ..As per usual , after shooting a normal springer a bit . I shot my best in weeks behind my gun :)

Joe you broke the law of picking up a springer after a long lay off! You start with chasing cans across the range and then work to something smaller and after many many shots doing that....................then move on to the targets! Just go to Party City and get one of the helium tanks and balloons kits and then you can make any size flying targets to shoot at!............................of course the area you shoot in has to be large enough to allow that type of shooting. (Joe if your bad at shooting the balloons get out the shotgun!)

You have me thinking ill get out my ol' 2008 Gamo Whisperer 1200 later today(I try to shoot the gamo every few weeks just for the fun of messing with a wilder springer) and shoot at something!

Good post as usual, Joe. Once I went to PCPs my springer shooting skills faded out pretty quickly. I have since revived them a bit by just grabbing my springer and going for a walk in the woods and plinking offhand at leaves and bits of bark. I start fairly close and work up to longer shots. This keeps it fun and relaxing, I also get to see lots of critters just by being out there.

I will shoot paper only to get the scope set up and then it's mostly tin cans and small varmits. I shot 27 chipmunks last year in my backyard, so I'm pretty satisfied with my gas piston break barrel. It does take some discipline to get the hang of it, but it sure is fun!! Really like all your videos Joe, you are entertaining!!

It doesn't just happen with springers. If I go even 3 or 4 days without shooting, I suddenly seem to forget everything I ever learnt. It like that movie "50 first dates".

I missed a shot at 10 yards with my Cricket 25 the other days because I forgot how to pull the trigger smoothly after a week without shooting.

If you suck.... I suck 10x at least!

I wouldnt know what to do with one of those fancy pants match grade springer rifles. All i shoot lately are those shoulder hammer Crosman Nitro Pistons....Not even the 2nd generation, the old clunky first gens. Dropped a crow from my second story, about 55 foot up in a tree at 40 yards. Heard the hit, knocked him clean up off the branch. One less crow. I find em challenging, but they got some power.

My NP2 sits quietly, waiting for its chance to show why I keep it. So simple, grab gun & jsb 18.13's and we're good. No matter how many pcp's I get, I hope I never lose the joy of shooting it.
No need to run it through a chronograph, just grab and go...
Matter of fact I'm going to grab it after dinner tonight just because I'm talking about it.
I don't limit myself to any one type gun, I enjoy them all. Maybe I need to get me one of those fwb's and see if I can shoot it. If I see one at some estate sale it's on my list...
Shoot it for a while then sale it to Joe.

You nailed it again Joe. I haven't been on this FWB 300 kick very long but already have three and loving them. I picked up my RWS 34 last week and thought something was wrong with it, couldn't group for crap. On top of all that, it felt like it kicked like a mule. I finally started shooting some respectable groups after a LOT of shooting but not what I was accustom to.
