This is too basic for this audience, but ......

I just put up a video the is an introduction to airgun hunting for those getting started or early in the airgun hunting experience. I get started by introducing the video:
Airgun Hunting is a rapidly growing sport in the USA, and for good reason! Join Jim Chapman as he explores the reasons he hunts with an air rifle, discussing: the game, guns, ancillary gear, and techniques as he provides a comprehensive overview based on over two decades of dedicated Airgun hunting.

This was intended as an introduction for less experienced or complete newbies to hunting with an air rifle. It will be a lead in to a series in which I'll explore various topics within airgun hunting in greater detail. I'd appreciate if this team took a look and gave me some feedback on the good, bad, and ugly!

Thanks,

Jim

Outstanding, Jim! Well reasoned, informative, entertaining and hits all the high notes very, very well. But don't sell this short. Even the seasoned air gun hunter can benefit by taking stock of their own so called tried and true techniques and revisit them in the context of your presentation.

Thanks for sharing and all the hard work this most certainly took.

Jim, don't apologize for trying to help someone that is new to the sport. Your efforts are not in vain.

Not everyone here is an "expert" unless you ask them, of course. :) When I re-started in airguns I just THOUGHT I knew what i needed to know.
Boy was that a steep learning curve.

I watched every video you made in hopes to learn just a tiny bit but always learned a LOT!!

Keep up the good work and thank you for your time and efforts.

Jim, OUTSTANDING! No fluff, non stop information backed by great footage. It really shows the scope and scale of airgun hunting opportunities. I like that you presented AG hunting as a challenge for serious hunters and a gateway to new hunters all at once.

The only thing I'd change (because you asked) is this: Your sponsors, aka anyone who supports you and AG hunting, should be better represented. Not in a blatant "in your face" way that most of us dislike, but tastefully of course, and that's your style.

Been following you for years and this is excellent material. Keep it up!

Hi Joe, I remember meeting you.... I don't remember if it was AZ, TX, or OH... heck, I don't know where I am half the time these days. Thanks for taking the time to comment, its appreciated. This video turned out to be the most difficult edit I've ever done, but I learned a lot and will improve them as I move forward.,,,, OK, it's bugging me, was it AZ, TX, or OH??

Brian; thanks for the feedback. I do owe a lot to the guys that sponsor my projects and support our sport, and I am lucky in that I continue to work with almost all the companies out there. Almost every one of them are staffed by people that are passionate about airgunning, which makes them a pleasure to work with. Your point is well taken.

This is great, speaking for myself I have always hunted simplified with easy to use scopes and equipment.
It wasn't until I got into Airguns that I started looking into more advanced scopes. Like you I learned that a 3x9 is a good all around scope I look forward into seeing more detail about scopes and equipment.
Another thing I look forward into seeing is calibers and how they are different from firearms. My learning curve wasn't as steep as some due to the fact that part of my hunting background came from BP Hunting, even so I was stumped for a good while as example I realized that for different manufacturers a .45 may not actually be .45 but anything from .45 upwards to .458 and just how much difference it can make in accuracy.
I look forward you your videos
Thanks for the effort
Willie

"Willie14228"P.S Joe's from Texas were you at the shot show last year at the gun range in Dallas?
Thanks, that was it.... at Gaylords airgun meetup. We were at the range talking! Thanks for the memory jolt. And btw, thanks for commenting above. You probably did get a leg up from the BP shooting, some parallels there.

Its kind of hard to forget that eye patch thing he got going on, :)

I don't think they have much sense of small, their hearing is OK, but for both of these you're pretty far away at 50-100 yards. It's their eyesight that's a problem..... It's great and there are ussually several sets on look out.

Are you going to be there Wyeth, and dif so were you able to make contact through the info I sent?

Hopefully see you there, we'll give a rundown before we hit the field on Friday morning.

I thought the idea behind these videos was a good one. Some think showing the high-end PCP's and what's hunted with them as a bit high-brow, out of the average hunter's league, add infinitum. I say you pretty much have too, since the big bore air rifles are basically all PCP's. That said, I could handily kill a turkey with either of my springer's at up to 50 yards or more. Even with My Winchester 1400cs .177 with the right pellet. Between chronograph tests and the local indoor range, I'll prove which pellets are best for a given job in a given rifle. Following in your footshtops, of course. ;)
If enough of us bare out this which rifle/pellet for which game sort of information, not only will the beginners/newbies be able to make better choices, but states will have the info they need to make better law decisions as well.
