The magic tin is no more

This is a sad tale, there once was a man, springers is all he knew, then a Wildcat .25 came into his life. They did not like each other at first, he found the gun to fit his shoulder oddly, the gun's first shot was slow and off target, he worked hard to over come these hurdles, then he bought himself a Chrony, 13 different pellets and set to work to find the accuracy of the FX Smooth bore legend. They worked hard and spent many hours at his range, calculating BC's, perfecting their hold, controlling his breathing... and then magic happened; AA 25.4 pellets made amazing groups, dropped small vermin at ranges the man never knew. So he bought many of these magic pellets, just to find, the magic was in that one tin and only in that one, for all the rest of the AA 25.4 tins shot well, impressive others would say, average for most of you who are reading this.

The morals of the story: Don't base your judgment based on a single tin's performance and if you ever find a magical tin, cherish it.

Stupid story, sorry for all of you that read the whole thing, but I am sooooo bummed, I once shot 8 rounds at 100 yards that was 5/8" c-c, with a bunch of jeering powder burners, saying I am a nuts for spending that much money on a pop gun, only to see their jaws drop as the group was shot, it was priceless. So I have an average Wildcat, that once shot amazingly well, kind of sucks, cause now I know what near perfection feels like and the pursuit to recapture that lighting in a bottle is on, more intensely than ever! and dang it is expensive!!!!

Buy pellets from a smaller distributor that has a smaller inventory on hand. Get one tin, immediately sort and shoot it. If it shoots really really well, buy as many as you want from that same inventory. If you buy from someone like Pyramid that has a huge inventory, many lots mixed up, and lots coming in and out daily you have less of a chance to get the same lot.

Reactions: Winged
I know the feeling and learned there will always be variances. I still have JSB 18gr pellets from 2015 and shoots lights out accurate thru the Marmot Militia barrel installed recently. I ordered more of the JSB (same weight) and of course the skirt was thinner. Fortunately, that's not an issue but other airguns may not be as tolerable as the Marmot barrel. Best of luck, we're all in the mercy of the manufacturers who provides their best for our needs worldwide.

Winged: A tale as old as life itself, and one many have experienced. Take pleasure knowing that in this story lightening strikes more than once, and just like in Vegas if you keep playing the olds you are sure to experience that joy once again. In the meantime like Tominco said keep experimenting, because just as great as the AA25's magic pellets shot, you may find yet another magic pellet in JSB MKII's or even in JSB 25's. You never know where the magic will strike next. Keep your chin up. :)
