The best scope rings made?

For airguns with 11mm dovetail I like BKL scope rings. Scopes just do not move with American made BKL mounts, especially, with PCP. I even haven't lost zero using single strap BKL mounts on a RWS 54 Air King, the notorious scope killer. Like Marksman 3006 alluded to with most airguns you don't need extreme overkill. I want something aesthetically pleasing that holds zero.

I agree with 'Kev' on this.

With regard to the forces / stresses & strains placed on a pair of Airgun scope rings (or single type) heavy duty Centrefire Rifles are not the best comparison..Some of the excellent and costly makes mentioned fufill other purposes maybe - Tactical, 'Rugged' or just looking-like Mil Spec ?.

I have a couple of examples myself - not on airguns though.

Here's the SINGLE BIGGEST FACTOR in my choiceof Airgun rings - the method of clamping.

I completely distrust those that have single jaws that adjust or clamp from only one side to fit a Dovetail
(technically a 'dovetail' includes weaver & Picatinny type BTW).

BKL rings are designed to tighten with equal force on either side of the mounting rail. They are designed for a fairly narrow definition ( :) ) of a rifle Dovetail width - the @ 11mm width was almost defined by air rifles in the late 1960's / 70's. Some early airrifles have 13/14m width scope mounts but many modern rails have varying angles of 'bite' and depth, Rimfire and Centrefire rifles most often have their own 'in-house' mounting systems or a very hazy idea of a 'Dovetail'.

PARDON MY PUN

The type of rings that clamp from one side only are attempting to cover all the bases :)

& that is why clamping from one side only can be imprecise.

Good answers here....good answers! Now, keep in mind that I'm looking for "The best of the best". Doesn't matter if it costs the least, nor does it matter if it costs the most. It's not what you currently have on your gun (s), unless of course what you have is what you consider to be "The cat's meow". It's what you lust after! I'm looking for the top 5 in terms of quality.

Think of it like this [Dream sequence mode/ON]:

You walk into Mr. Scopy's Scope Ring Shop, where they sell nothing but scope rings. In fact, Mr. Scopy's carries every single scope ring currently manufactured by everyone from the mega-company down to the little guy kicking out a couple hundred a week.

Mr. Scopy himself is working behind the counter and says to you: "Hey! You are my xxxxx thousandth customer. Please, look around and select ANY 5 scope ring sets, which I will then gift to you at absolutely no charge". [Dream sequence mode/OFF]

WHAT SCOPE RINGS WOULD YOU PICK OUT.

Thus far the list is:
Tier One
Spuhr
ERA-TAC
Innomount
BoBro
Warne Maxima
BKL
Burris Signature

"scrane"Do you want to look at them or shoot with them?
I'm simply wondering what the community believes to be the best of the best. It's like asking "What are the top 5 supercars built today". I think I just realized the underpinnings of your question. Going back to the supercars; they may be spectacular at the Nuremberg, but lets see you get those 4x8 sheets of plywood home from the big-box store! Therefore, one scope ring may be good at one particular job, but not so much at another.

The original question may have been too broad then? Maybe it should have been broken down to:
What are the top 5 best scope rings made in each category?
  • Competition target shooting
  • Hunting
  • back-yard plinking
  • Combination of all of the above
In my mind, "quality" means:
~Built of the highest quality materials
~Machined to exacting tolerances (ans not just because the manufacturer says so)
~Light weight
~Bullet-proof coatings
~Excellent warranty and customer service
~Holds zero even if dropped into a cement mixer...full of class 3 rock...during an earthquake. (Tongue in cheek here, but you get the gist)
~Needs no further consumer fettling/R&D
~Aesthetically appealing (subjective of course)
~Versatile

Cheers!

Honest question. Are you actually in the market for a set of premier rings are just fishing for post counts? With the exception of a very small minority, most people on here don't have scopes that cost more than a $400 Spuhr mount so why would they invest in owning a mount that cost more than their scope? Chances are if you're willing to spend $100+ for a set of brand name rings, they'll fit your airgun application fine. The rest is up to the end user and whatever appeals to their eyes.

There are some sexy looking mounts out there but unless you're sporting $2K optics, it wouldn't make sense IMO unless you're more about bling factor than performance.

I'm looking for scope rings. No ulterior motives on my part, and my apologies if I have come off as possibly doing so. I've chosen what brands I *think* I want (depending upon whether or not I can attain proper eye-relief), but wanted to ask the community at large if there was something I was overlooking. My choices are: Seekins, Nightforce, Badger Ordinance, Burris, and Bobro.

Excellent point regarding price point in relation to scope cost. I would liken it to the individuals who put $10K worth of rims and tires on a 1973 LTD Brougham (no offense to anyone who partakes in this). Lovely looking Geissele!
