S&W 78G Piercing Pin

Hoping someone might give me a little help locating a piercing pin #11219, or the cap assembly #11266 for a S&W 78G (.22), or a 79G (.177)
This CO2 air pistol was manufactured by S&W around 1977 and I believe the same assembly may of been used in the Daisy Powerline 780 and 790.
Or, if someone has a work around for this part, and you could share your idea, it would be greatly appreciated!

Wow! That's impressive. I picked one up at he NC Airgun show last year and all of the seals were dust. I handed it off to Sue Smith and she got it in fine working order. I'm also a big fan of Crosman Mark 1 and 11s from the same era. Crosman engineers designed S&Ws and that's why they work similar to the Mark 1,11 but probably not telling you anything that you don't already know. Good luck on your search.

@Kev
I bought a brand new Mark II .177 in 1973 and that was my first CO2 air pistol. That too was a great pistol, which I traded with me adding $75 cash to a neighbor for a Harrington Richardson Model 999 Sportsman .22, 9 shoot with the vent rib top, which I later sold just before shipping out to go overseas. I wish I had both of them now! I'd like for a company like Umarex to produce a S&W Model 41 design like the 78G or 780. I bet it would sell!

I've got a S&W 78G converted to .20/5mm with a LW barrel. They are somewhat delicate if gorilla fisted on re-assembly.
If you're interested I could post a build thread entailing easily avoided pitfalls, as well as a few easy accuracy mods that will benefit even a stock gun.

FYI the Crosman barrels from that era (built in two separate S&W facilities) ranged from stellar to "ho-hum" in the accuracy department, but I agree with you, that air-pistol as a whole is a tribute to American ingenuity at its finest !!

@Ziabeam
I would love to see a build thread on the 78G! I've always been happy with the accuracy of the copy of 78G I bought, however in the hands of a skilled competition pistol shooter their opinion may be completely different. I had thought about re-barreling many years ago while doing a reseal job, but it was only a passing thought, and I wondered if the gain for cost, and effort would be worth the increase in accuracy which I may not be able to realize from my primarily freehand/standing position.
I'm definitely interested in the build thread, and accuracy modifications!

@Kev
I currently have my 78G torn down, and awaiting a couple parts from JG Airguns. I've have never really considered my trigger that bad on my 78G and other than a good cleaning on tear down and a very light application of copper anti-seize between the trigger, and hammer assembly, I have left it in an original condition. With the lack of available parts for the 78G (still looking for a source for the piercing pin assembly #11219) I'll most likely continue to live with the way way mine shoots, as I'm pretty happy with it.
Sorry to not be much help.

Regards!

"Kev" Meant to address DwightP980 and Ziabeam about trigger creep question.

@DwightP980
They may be cross compatible. Edit... (listing description states they are);

@Kev
Some of them had a set screw on the underside of the trigger to reduce creep, along with two position hammer for fast or slow velocity.
Those with no set screw are relegated to stoning/grinding for improved trigger, which is sketchy at best due to shallow depth of surface hardness.
Might be best to only polish the mating surfaces with a felt wheel and rouge by Dremel.

The piercing pin assembly for the Crosman Mark 1/2 will work in the S&W 78G/79G.

I was just given a S&W 79G that the seals are toast in the piercing assembly. Used the assembly from my Mark 1 to be able to shoot it. Fired gun 35 to 40 times. Gun had set for a long time gathering dust without being shot, so I ordered a seal kit and will reseal the whole gun when I get the kit. When I received the gun, it still had one of the old CO2 cartridges in it with the crimped on top hat. Thats why I know it had not been shot for probably several years.

Ziabeam, still would like to see your build instructions.
