Still haven't bought a scope

This buying a scope deal has really turned into a pain in the popcorn 😄 I thought I wanted a scope that has the objective parallax adjustment. After useing my buddy's sidewinder on his rifle I find adjusting the scope on every shot that is a different range is not my cup of tea.so l have decided to stick with a 4x16 Without the adjustable parallax. As usually im seeking the advice from guys in the know. Help me out Joe

Why don't you get an adjustable scope that goes down to 4x for you don't want to mess around the parallax adjustment but goes up to 14x or 20x for when you want to zoom in?

That's what I do anyway. For hunting, I usually keep it on 4x (or 6x on some scopes). A variable power scope is no different to a fixed 4 in this respect. On 4x, you don't need to touch the side focus or AO and you usually don't until you get above 6 or 7x.

But... on the occasions where that teeny squirrel at 70 yards is just sitting still on a branch, it's nice to be able to zoom in for a little more precision in your shot placement.

I wouldn't want to only have 4x for small game hunting. It would limit my range too much.

4-14x44 and 4-16x44 scopes are very common. We are also starting to see a number of 4-20x50 which I think is the perfect dual use air gun spec.

In the $200-$300 range, the Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP mil dot and the Athlon Talos 4-14x44 FFP are great no messing around scopes. The FFP thing means you don't even need to work out different adjustments for different power settings.

For $400-$500 check out the Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 Mil dot and the Clearidge XP5 4-20x50 mil dot. Both are SFP.

in the $600-$800 range, check out the Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 FFP and the 4-20x50 FFP Mil dot scopes.

All those models will let you run them on 4x with no need to touch the side focus when hunting.Â
