Sizing AA .177 pellets.

Have been using AA 8.4 in my FWB 124 with great results. Last tin I sized I had about 60% 4.52 -- 30% 4.51 and the rest +- that. Today I am sizing the same numbers that were on the bottom of the last tin, 4.52 and the same other numbers also.
I have sized about 100 and so far I have 1 that is 4.51 and none that are 4.52. They are about evenly divided between 4.48 and 4.49 with a small amount being 4.50.
The 4.52 have done the best in the last tin. Almost always less than 1/2" @ 30 yds. Was about to order 10 tins of the 4.52 but am now debating.
Going to try the 4.48 and 4.49 tomorrow and hope that they are all flyers. Have never had this before and have had so few of less than 4.51 before is kinda scarry.
Anyone else had this?

Vettnut,

This is a typical finding of most "quality" pellets these days, and half the time it's a crapshoot on what you actually get, compared to the way the tin is marked, even tins with the same lot #, will vary from tin to tin. This is one of those reasons why I try to give everyone as much info I know in my videos. I'll buy many tins of whatever brand I'm sorting (varies with gun, usually my all around pellet for most of my guns is an Air Arms), and get many different head sizes, weight, and skirt size. They'll vary a whole lot sometimes. Sometimes you'll get a tin that has 80% of what you are looking for, while the next tin will yield very few.
Welcome to the frustrating world of pellet sorting.....

Hi Vettenut, I have been beating this DEAD HORSE for months!! I need 10.34 heavies in 4.52 or 4.53's for my rifles to perform well and have the same problem and findings as you!
The problem arose in about the summer of last year when the latest container from JSB arrived and was distributed to all of the dealers, sense then at least for me I haven't found a tin marked 4.52 that have had any 4.52 pellets at all in the tin!! like you said mostly 4.48 and 4.49 and a few 4.50's and 4.51's , and I have checked lots of tins from many vendors! Older stock was much better!
Shame on JSB!!!!!!, why even mark the tins if you don't put in the can whats marked!!!!! I have been shooting .177 monsters this winter indoors as they are 99 percent whats marked on the tin, If they can get one style correct there is no reason they can't get them all correct in my book! Lack of quality control or bad tooling for sure! but as I have said before as long as they keep selling them nothing will ever change!! Wish you luck!!! J.L.

I have a few tins of AA 10.3's that size out to the larger end of the spectrum. What would you be willing to pay? I'll part with five for the right price.
