Results Silhouette match Saturday in China Springs TX.

The new long-range, high-power airgun bench-rest silhouette competition kicks off with the first match this-coming Saturday (weather permitting). It will be held at the Central Texas Rifle and Pistol Club near China Spring, Texas, just west of Waco. Match start time is 9 AM, so shooters should try to arrive by about 8:30. You don't have to be a member of the club to attend or compete, and the gate will be open for the match.

Airguns are limited to 100 foot-pounds, no larger than .30 caliber, and lead pellets only. Any magnification scope allowed, but it must be shot no higher than 16X in the competition. Scopes without a 16X factory marking must be set to the next lower factory magnification marking.

All shooting will be from concrete bench-rests. Sandbags and soft rests are allowed. Mechanical rests and remote triggers are not allowed.

Targets will be 1/10 scale silhouettes (same size as normal airgun silhouettes). There will be corresponding silhouette swingers at each distance for sighting shots.

This will be a forty shot match; 10 shots each at chickens at 50 yards, pigs at 67 yards, turkeys at 84 yards, and rams at 100 yards, with steel backing plates behind the silhouettes.

At a start signal, shooters will have 10 minutes for unlimited sighting shots at silhouette swingers, AND THEN one shot at each animal for record after communicating with your scorer/spotter that you are starting your 10 shots for record.

There will be wind FLAGS at the range. No other wind flags or devices are allowed.

The match entry fee is $10 per gun.

I'm happy to answer questions BY PHONE any time between noon and midnight at 254-253-1239 (much faster and more efficient information exchange than e-mails). Feel free to call me with questions.

Suffice to say this will be a very challenging competition for airguns, but also great fun. The range has a well-deserved reputation for wind conditions. There will be both .22lr and airguns.....airguns in their own class of coarse. Semi autos must be single loaded.

If you are going to attend, it might be a good idea to print-out these rules.

Hope to see y'all there,

Just letting everyone know about a silhouette match this upcoming saturday. Would like to meet a few airgunnation folks there.

"Percula"Sounds like a really challenging course! No rests, 1/10th instead of 1/5th and no magnification over 16x... that's harder than the NRA smallbore silhouette I shoot!

Post some pictures, sounds like a blast!
I did confirm that bipods are permitted.

I was hoping some people here might decide to come......and yes this will be a very challenging and fun shoot.

DellaDog"remote triggers are not allowed..."

I assume this means electronic triggers?
Is so, it's a shame, because on a rifle like a Daystate AirWolf which I'd love to someday compete with, I don't understand the restriction.

Or does "remote" mean something else?

Thanks, sounds like fun.

Theyre referring to button you push that in turn fires the gun......typically used on benchrest setups that hold the gun in a vice like state. It requires no marksmanship skills basically. The electronic triggers on daystates are perfectly legal here.

Shot with and met zx10wall yesterday at this match. There were only 4 of us airgunners mixed in with some .22lr fellows. zx10wall showed up with a rowe tuned smooth twist 30cal cricket with full shroud Neil Claque moderator. In synthetic stock. It was a menacing looking rifle. He came in first amongst the 4 of us. The rams at a 100 yards werent just falling when he shot but rather flying. I shot my .22 wolverine. I downed 6 out of 9 rams at 100. I aimed at and downed the wrong ram with my first shot.....costing me 2 missed rams.....the one I shot and the one I should have shot. Zx10wall just did good with that cricket. I hope he comes first Saturday next month.......I want another go at him and his cricket!!!
Seriously tho.......the shoot was fun as hell. Shooting airgun silhouettes at those ranges.....in the wind.....is very very challenging and fun.

It was a blast. It was nice meeting you too Marksman3006. Your .22 Wolverine is a very nice gun. Beautiful too.

I hope the event grows and it should. I want to challenge those rimfire guys too. If any of you want a nice venue to put your skills to the test, mark your calendars. This event is suppose to happen the first Saturday of every month.
