Should have never bought a SWFA scope

Tax weekend is coming up ...That's when swfa has a big sale every year

Lol I know exactly what your going through cahil_2. I tried one a 10x42 Mil-quad with the Mil/Mil setup and rear focus. Next sale there was I bought another 10x42 and a 12x42 lol! Can't be beat for the $300! I absolutely love mine. Won't go to another scope company again. I do want to try a variable scope from them one day but for now really enjoy my fixed magnification scopes

I was very luck to pick up a used swfa 10x42 side focus here in Australia. I really enjoy using it. 
I would have them on my other guns if I could but they are nearly impossible to get here! 
You guys are very lucky. Great scopes and reasonable price. 
Wish I could get to that sale.

I have been pondering picking up one of their 3-15x42 deals. I've had to knock a couple of red squirrels off my bird feeders and at about 5 yards the 12x is way too much. 3x would be much better and the 3-15x42 also focuses down to 6 meters.

Tweeter that's a very legit reason. Defo you'll need a new scope! 
Im just trying to work out why I might need the 10x42 HD version when it's more than twice the price! 299.95 standard 799.95 HD. 
Glass is expensive! It is a good saving on the 2 scopes on sale.

They do have a 10x42HD in the sample list section for less money. At the top of the SWFA website you should see the sample list tab. Keep in mind that the 10x42HD only focuses down to 50 meters. I was eyeballing one of them awhile back but that ruined it for me.

 Never even noticed the sample list! It must change constantly as HD scope had gone. Your right though not suitable if it won't focus down closer than 50m. 
I haven't heard back from them yet.

I have two of the ss 3-15 and love them. Both with the milquad reticle (mil/mil scopes are awesome). One in ffp and one in sfp. Awesome glass and comparitively light weight and compact. The reticle and turrets are outstanding. Very easy to use for holdover shooting or very quick, accurate, and repeatable turret dialing. Personally, I prefer the sfp for short distance or tight woods shooting and the ffp for beyond 35 yards and long range shooting. I use the sfp on my Ataman M2 ultra carbine .22 and the ffp on my Cricket .25 Carbine.

Can't wait to see what comes up tax day sale! I would love to own their HD 5-20 for long range shooting but the price is a little steep to get that level of glass. Maybe tax day!

I have a 10x42 SS, that has had ca. 15000 rounds of 0.308W under its belt (on two (2) rifles), and is still working perfectly

I have found it to be, for me, an excellent 'scope

I will be putting it on one of my springer air-rifles soon.

Are these high end Chinese or made in Japan? Or just depends on model? What FFP would compair to my Midas?

They are all made in Japan. I would think the 3-12 would be about same ballpark maybe nicer . I haven't owned a Midas . But I can say for sure ( at least my opinion) that at their price point there is nothing as good...Like I say , just my opinion . I can say this I just ordered my second scope today . I'm not an optical expert by any means but I've owned scopes from UTG to Zeiss. And in between.... SWFA scopes kick ass for their price point !!

3-12 with milquad . SFP . I like the first focal plane also. But I mainly just plink and try to shoot little bitty stuff so second plane works best for me .

I've never had a FFP, I also like to shoot small stuff. I punch paper at 50 plus also and squirrel hunt. I'm trying to decide on first or second, what is your opinion? I'd hate to buy a FFP and end up with a reticule that's too thick at high magnification.

I order 16x fixed I normally hunt from a blind over a feeder so I'm aiming at a fixed point also I like to punch paper will this be to much magnification?

What distance?

35-45 yards it's due to arrive Tuesday I could swap it out for 12x.
