SCBA cylinders service life extension

Note - this particular cylinder will have a funky valve as these were used to inflate life rafts. It will not be the standard SCBA valve you have seen before.

It is forbidden by law to refill any DOT composite cylinder that is beyond the 15 years lifespan no matter what it is used to

It is good to see people asking questions on this stuff.....there is a great deal of power in these little tanks....if you think a balloon stings when popped, or one of those pop bottles you fill with air is loud, I can't imagine the sound of one of these things going off.....and the force behind it.

I know a youtube guy shot one and it was enough to scare the ______ out of me....this kind of power is something you don't want to take chances with.

The other thing I wonder about with these used tanks.....is it like a motorcycle helmet.....if you take a spill you are not to use the helmet again.....I wonder if these tanks take a hit of some kind are they done for use....perhaps one of our hose draggers on here can fill us in.

I got new CF tank and a used scuba tank from a local dive shop....I sleep well at night and don't worry when filling them.
