May (? or maybe it is the real david jam???) post as DJammer also?

Hopefully you did use USPS and while it wont amount to much DO file a complaint with the Post Master, local police and have a nice time emailing ICE . Did you send the MO to TX?

Sounds somewhat familiar. I was scammed 3 weeks ago out of $1700 for a Daystate Pulsar. The guy was in Texas and I sent a USPS money order to his supposed daughter, Teresa Estrada in Ocoee, Florida. He claimed to be Curtis Stine on BOI but used 3 different last names in emails to me - Estrada, Bailey and Sholar.

Too many similarities... $1700, seller in Texas, did not accept PayPal so I sent a post office money order, check sent to Florida. He had a google phone number as well.

i reported this to the admin of this site. I realized I was being scammed too late when I fed the photos he sent into Google Search and found that the same gun sold 2 weeks earlier on another site. I was foolish enough to send the money order. I wonder if this is the same guy. Believe it or not, I have multiple emails from him as recently as yesterday when he claimed to be returning my funds.

I hope this post helps prevent someone else from getting scammed.

Sorry to hear about more scum scamming this community. A lot of old-timers on the Yellow still prefer money orders...please correct me if I am wrong...but always worry about sending postal money order as payment because there is not much recourse afterwards besides reporting it to the Postal Inspector and then standing in line with 10,000 other scammed victims....waiting for an investigation with questionable urgency and outcome.

Some prefer to use Paypal because (again, please correct me if I am wrong) because you can use my credit card (yes, 3% more) and can always reverse charges, and also there is an electronic trail. Also, my understanding is that even as the person receives my money, it's on temporarily hold by Paypal for a few days even as Paypal immediately upfronts them the money. So the risk of going after the other party is on Paypal. Now, if you pay with Paypal "family and friends" to save that 3%, then you may take on some risks where the money back guarantee does not count.

What I hear others advising is to always call the seller/buyer on the phone (beware of Google Voice numbers or TrackPhone numbers), talk and ask questions to establish if they are who they say they are...do they know the hobby, etc, do they know anyone in the hobby....and verify their physical address (Google is your friend here). If they claim to be on the Yellow, or Ebay, or else,...make them post something specific under their alias making sure that their alias and log-in matches (this is for folks on the Yellow) or on Ebay an item for one cent or something.

I am sure there are some other and better things too...would be great to share some tips on how to prevent these things from happening, because after the fact it's almost always too late and too little..

Hey guys... couple of things.
- If this comes up PM me or Michael right away! You can find our profiles really easy by clicking on our names. Sticky threads is a good place for this. I misunderstood and thought this happened on a different forum.

- timbphoto, I am so sorry this has happened. Please send me any and all information you have from this.

- /topic/wts/?view=all#post-96661 - EDIT: It happened to me to! Looks like we've got a glitch.
There are two ways to post a link. You can hit the "link" button all the way to the right of the post you want to link. Copy the link from your browser. Paste it in the body of the post like I just did.
Another way to post a link is to write "whatever you want", in the body of your post. Then highlight it and press that little button that looks like a chain link. It's at the top of the area you type in. A box will pop up and you simply paste the link you want in the URL box. It'll look like this - Scammers post - EDIT: This method still works.

- I have absolutely NO respect for scammers at all! I will post al of their personal information for all to see and be aware of. But please understand, I can only do so much as I am not personally involved with the transaction and I need to see the facts before I can act.

- Spysir - thank you for posting the body from the original ad. It seems this person was active about 2 days ago (possibly to remove evidence).

- Please be on the lookout in the next few days. I'd like us to do what we can to turn these terrible events, that have taken place recently, into something useful. Please trust and believe that the people who do this do eventually get whats coming to them.
In the meantime, I have locked the WTS ad in question and I will contact Michael about this thread.
