Just put up a review up of the MRODAIR Airmax Precision Match PCP pistol. For those overseas, it can also be found as the SPA or SMK PP700w PCP pistol.

The pistol kept surprising during the review in that it exceeded my expectations. Everything from the machining and balance down to the accuracy and efficiency were all beyond what I was expecting based on the sub $400 price tag.

It has to be by far one of the most tunable out of the box PCPs on the market right now. In addition to the near standard hammer pre load adjustment, this pistol also has an externally adjustable regulator and transfer port restrictor. I can't wait to see what some of the more experienced tuners are able to do with it!

Thanks for the reply BigTinBoat. I actually wasn't at any point trying for a 'best' tune, but more seeing what could be achieved with some quick and simple adjustments. I think I spent a total of an hour on dialing in the different settings, and I was trying to keep the tuning as quick and simple as possible. Also, for the majority of the testing done I was using regular old CPHP pellets in a tin, pellets which are by no means known for their consistency or quality.

Huub from huma-air.com has spend a considerable amount of time working on the settings and adjustments on this pistol, and he was able to get some amazing results out of it. Here is one of his shot strings for comparison:

Also here is a full thread where he's shared his experiences and views on this highly surprising pistol:

Kinda says exactly what I was saying "the regulator needs so work".......are they doing that for ALL the guns? If so that's great, if not then that's not so great. Not sure many of the guys tuning guns do anything more to the actual regulator then change the set point.
