raw hm 1000x lrt or dATSTATE WOLVERIENE

I have the 2nd gen HM1000x, but mine is in .25. This is the first one to ever have a Huggett moderator and I can tell you the only sound is the hammer hitting the valve. From the bench 1 inch groups are possible at 100 yards. At 11.25 lbs with the Huggett and a 6-20x44 Hawke, it is no light weight. You might consider bumping up to .22 cal and putting a Huggett on the RAW. I'm sure Andrew will be making the correct end piece to mount his suppressors on Martin's guns, soon. I had mine custom made and still can't believe how quiet it is. And the accuracy?...You'll be astounded!

So is the Air Wolf Regulated or not ? AGA sales said that it was, which is why I bought it. Understood that the Harper Valve design is Not regulated but its still a tack diver on my Huntsman XL. The biggest selling feature was the electronics AND Regulated ! So which is it regulated or not ? I cant believe AGA would put their reputation on the line by selling me the AW/ MCT over the Huntsman as a regulated air gun. So which it it ? Thanks for your reponses.

One confused consumer,

One more thing, now I'm frustrated because AGA also told me the Air Wolf is a pellet on pellet tack driver at 25 yds. SO.. What's the deal with Changing out to a "Heliboard" ??? isnt the factory Daystate board good enough? I'm into quite a bit of mool'ah in the past two months with AGA, between now a .22, a .177, FX pump, followed by a SCBA 80 Cu FT 4,000 PSI tank, guages, yokes,hi pressure hoses, connecions, windflags, chronos and about 500 bucks in jsb's. Hope I don't wind up in divorce court and thank Goodness for separate checking accounts BTW ! I hope AGA does me right with all this testing and show targets they talk about... they probably shoot 'em at 5 meters and say they were shot at 25? I sure would love to post my first 25 and 50 yd benchrest win with my new AW. Can it be done with the factory board or is this newbie wishing for what a 5 K gun will do ?

Confused with new computer boards ?

Pinwheel87,

I have owned (and sold) a Wolverine and now own an Airwolf. The Wolverine is not regulated. The Airwolf is electronically regulated via the computer board vs mechanically regulated like most other rifles. My airwolf is a tackdriver at 55 yards, I can't speak for others.

The factory board is great for high power and "low power" which is about 10% less than high power. The heli board lets you have 12 power settings from max power down to like 6fpe for plinking all day.

aa_limited,

I have had both Daystate Wolverine and RAW. I would go with the regulated RAW.

AOA can set the two power levels on the Air Wolf MCT for you at no cost before the rifle is shipped. I asked for 20 ft/lbs on low power, and 'maximum' on high power. With my chrony I got 19 and 34 ft/lbs using JSB 16 pellets.

The heliboard is a nice add one, but can be added at any time. The main advantage is the user settable 12 power settings versus the two fixed levels that Daystate gives you, and an improved interface (live pressure reading, and other information on the LCD screen).

One disadvantage to consider is that the Daystate is 'water proof'; there's a video of the gun being shot in a swimming pool! The circuit board is coated with a conformal sealant, and the plugs and switch are sealed with grease. The heliboard does not have this treatment, but it might be possible to add it yourself?

I have both a Regal and Air Wolf, and the shot curve is flatter (better regulated) for the Air Wolf, and I agree with you: the sling shot on the Regal already does a fantastic job.

Just like classic lines better as far as stocks. The custom LRT stocks that martin makes are 2nd to none. I do a lot of both bench rest and shooting off of sticks. At 11.25 lbs with the heavy Hawke scope, it is a tough gun to shoot, for very long, off hand. Would gladly put a few pictures up if I could figure out how to , on this sight,
. Suggestions?

"Marksman3006"I have owned both RAW and Daystate. If you get the RAW.....based off my experience......be prepared to send it to a tuner. The gun I got was not tuned properly and I personally drove to RAW headquarters to pick it up in person. It was a .25 HM1000X LRT. I put 3 tins of pellets through it. The fps spread when new was 50fps. Like from one shot to the next. All over the place. I kept shooting it and it got better......but never came close to what all 3 of our daystates did out of the box. That would be a pulsar, wolverine b hilite in .22, and wolverine C in .177.

I have to admit the RAW was built very well.....but no better than the daystate. The magazine on the daystate is definitely better. For the price......I personally feel you get more with the Daystate, unless you need a regulator. Then RAW all the way.

I have been thinking about getting another RAW in .22 despite my first experience. If I do.....I will be prepared to send it to a tuner. Part of me wishes I had kept the .25 LRT and just sent it off for a tune......but it was too loud to truly be backyard friendly. Im sure the .22 and .177 would have been more than quiet enough. Please no bashing my post......this is real first hand world experience here.....that cost me alot of money. Had I been patient I could have got that .25 LRT shooting lights out I know. But Martin told me it was a "one holer" in person when he handed it to me.
Again......putting my neck out here. This is my first hand experience and not heresay.

The shots that were within 10fps at 50 yards were one holing and damn near pellet on pellet. It showed promise and needed a tune.
Well I think I have witnessed the same with RAW. A guy in our club got a 30 cal. A very very nice looking gun but it was not shooting great at 50 yards. I have a Daystate regal with no tune, done nothing to it out of the box. 3 years it shoots the same I have no need for a tune. He paid 2200+ with the options and it might need something because it can't outshoot a .22 at 50 yards.

I would go with a Daystate as they seem to be good to go out of the box. If you like to fiddle or pay extra for a tune I am sure the RAWs are great.

I know this is Daystate or get a RAW but I see people saying "Will I get blown away by other guns" if I get such n such a gun. Why are there no FX Impacts in this thread?
Ted Won the Extreme Bench with a .25 cal FX impact over 30 calibers. Thats the gun I would get if I wanted to compete as proof is in the pudding. Saw mostly FX guns there and some Daystates but in a 1 to 10 ratio vs FX.

I have FX and RAW. Buying a RAW or Daystate will not guarantee accuracy. My RAW would not shoot with my FX500 so it is now a 30 cal that shoots great. Pick out the one that you like the best for whatever reasons and hope for the best. It is really strange that when you purchase a 2000 gun it might be good, bad or just plain ugly shooting. When testing a gun for accuracy you really have to watch the wind or you could come to the wrong conclusion.

I for one am a huge raw fan haven'treceived my first rifle 2 weeks ago and already ordered another so far I'm having pretty good luck your comments about being a leper I'm glad you're being honest with us there are always bad with the good I hope your next rifle shoots as well as you want I definitely would go with the TM with the new color schemes gray yellow or gray blue wow they look awesome I'm pretty sure they're going to shoot as good as they look keep us informed of your choice

My experience with the RAW .30 is less than desirable.

The rifle shot great when I received it. Over a few weeks though, the fps dropped from 870 to under 800 fps. I called Martin and he quickly sent me a replacement spring. I trimmed it per his direction and was back at 870 fps for a while.

It then dropped below 800 fps again. This time, I sent him the entire receiver for his inspection. I got it back in a week or so and it could be set back at 870 fps again.

A while later, it was under 800 fps again. Martin advised me to "add washers" to get the fps back up to where it needed to be. I added washers and the result was I could not get back to over 800 fps and loading mechanism would not arm.

Another call to Martin and I now have a "double spring". I've yet to try and set the gun up again.

My Air wolf MCT .22 has never had any issues, and still puts pellet on pellet into the same rough hole at 50 yards.

I may have had bad luck, but if I could return my RAW for a full refund, I would.
