Quit Screwing Around: Lets see those SPRINGER GROUPS

Some seriously good shooting in this topic guys!
My best card yet with my FWB300S. Off-hand prone with diopter sights at 10 meters.

I got to have a quick session at some wood pellets the other day. Just sitting in my Ute shooting through the passenger window.
I was using my 12 .4 fpe 177 cyclone and H&N barracuda pellets. I've owned this gun from new and must admit at first I had my doubts about the smooth twist for 177, and was exploring getting a L/W barrel for it, but it seems to have matured. I measured this range at 33m and the fliers were me moving, otherwise I was excited at the pellets stacking up. 8 shot mag, so 2 off, and 6 spooning.

"JoeWayneRhea"The artillery hold is like Jim Morrison and the Doors .....WAY over rated
The philosophy behind it is solid and proven. Precision shooting (regardless of the type of weapon used) is all about repeatability. Artillery hold helps you with that. Even when you shoot a recoilless rifle like a PCP of a FWB300. But then again, it all depends on your definition of "precision". ;)

I agree with you my friend ...Repeating the same thing is the key to any precision shooting .
Too many " experts" fall straight back to the Artillery Hold to cure everything from a bad batch of pellets , loose scope screws , bad breath , poor Wi-Fi signal, cloudy urine, and unfaithful spouses .
Its a good place to start , as opposed to a death grip . 100 or so yearyears ago I used to be pretty decent with a Bow . The most consistent grip possible is the brain dead grip .
Just let muscle memory do the work .Thinking too much about it can distract you from follow thru and relaxed aim .

Exactly, it isn't the holy grail of shooting, we can absolutely agree on that mate. But (there's always a but), don't forget the lack-of-beer-and-bacon related issues, those can throw off any good shooter. :p ;)

I am brand new around here, but figured I could show what a Benjamin Steel Eagle 0.22 can do prone off a bag. The Benjamin NP2 springers never seem to get much love, but mine is plenty accurate and powerful in my opinion. This is 10 shots from 25 yards with Crossman Premiere Hollow Points. My gun seems to like them and they leave the barrel at an average of 785 fps. I have found that my gun likes to be held fairly tight for best accuracy. If I use the artillery hold, the groups open up considerably.

I recently bought a Classic one, a weihrauch Hw35 in .177 from 1969, today i finaly had the oportunity to take the first shots with her, and i can say this: this is the best airgun i have ever owned and shot, period! The only thing i have done to her is to replace the breech seal that was in leather with a modern one from vortek, i sighted her in at 25 meters, and then put 10 pellets trough the chrony with this result:
216
215
216
216
216
216
215
214
216
216 m/s with JSB 8.44gr
The lower nr are probably caused by bad pellets, but i am stoked by the nr anyway!
First target are the one i sighted in with, second is 30 shots, the one hole at 7 o'clock is 3 first ones that got a bit low so adjusted the scope, the last one is 10 shots, the weather was terrible with rain and stormy so i am very impressed with the gun! She is going to get a better scope in time
