Quit Screwing Around: Lets see those SPRINGER GROUPS

Wow, some great shooting here. It gives me something to strive for!

This is my latest target @20 yards wif that ol' wore out FWB you sold me...;P The x-rings on this target are .20". Two targets in middle are sighters. All ten outer targets are 5 shot groups, btw.

Shot this six shot 3/4" c-c group at 55 yards in a sitting field target position (rifle resting on my knee sitting on a bum bag) using my Walther LGU & Sightron 10-50x60 FT scope. Used Air Arms Diabolo Field 4.51mm 8.4 grains.

Man, 55 yards? I'm impressed!

And now, on the lower end of the shooter's curve, I present the result of tonight's outing with my Benjamin Titan GP in .22 using Benjamin Discovery Hollow Points at 14.3 gr:
The left-hand paddle is where I started by putting 5 shots onto the fresh target sticker. That's about 2" CTC at 25 yards. Funnily enough the very first shot is the one nearly dead center on that paddle - couldn't repeat that trick! The right-hand paddle is where I really hunkered down, once I knew the gun was spot on. That is also a 5-pellet result, but this time just a touch under 1" CTC at 25 yards. Certainly not the exactitude of the Dime Challenge but a very satisfying evening for me. Here's the beauty that is just now finishing up the break-in period and settling down into what I believe will be a tack-driver (by my standards):
 As I posted elsewhere, the grey tape on the Titan's stock secures my cheek riser in place and makes a huge difference in my accuracy. The chair is my shooting bench, with my left elbow supported by the foam wrapped around the left arm rest and my pellet tin secured in a drink holder integral to the camp chair. Low tech, easy to transport, and unassuming to the neighbors and She-who-must-be-held-in-highest-esteem. My goal is to hone my techniques for breath control, hold, sight picture and steadiness, and trigger control; using this very-semi-rested position furthers that goal.

Thanks, Joe! I recall that post too, remember wondering if the roller idea could be worked into a set of shooting sticks using urethane wheels from roller blades somehow worked into the cradle of the sticks when deployed. Would such a kluge make a magnum springer more accurate in the field? It'd take someone more skilled in the fabricating arts than me to knock it together but would be fun to experiment with such stuff. It'd truly be an "artillery hold" for hunting and/or field use.

I've got to get one of these old FWBs. I used to read and dream about them in Outdoor Life etc back in late 70's but they were waaaayyyy above anything I could scrape up then. All I had was my Daisy's B.B. Lever action and multi pump 880. I had never even seen a FWB in the flesh til the early 80s when I was stationed in Germany and I was awestruck.

A good night's shooting for the ironlion. A five-shot group at 31 yards, three making a ragged hole in the center. Was using the bullseye on the Gamo tin as my POA.
 The specs are there to give perspective (pun alert).

The group was shot in calm conditions using CPHP 14.3 gr out of my Bejamin Titan GP .22 restocked in a Crosman Fire synthetic stock:
 
I traded the Titan action with the Fire's because I wanted the .177 Fire to reside in the wood thumbhole stock. Turns out the Titan really likes its new digs and the Fire is kicking butt in the wood stock. That's a Nikko Sterling MountMaster 4x32 AO scope on the Titan. It's my 30 yard shooter now.

Here's a couple from a full power, out of the box Diana model 48 in .22.

5 @ 20 yards, the squares are 1".

YOWZA!! That second target (with pellet for comparison) turned my whole world upside down!
