Question about clearance for side focus wheels

I'm just getting my feet wet with air gunning, and I have a question about using a scope with a, say, 4" side wheel on a magazine fed rifle like my AA S510 Xtra. Would the side wheel leave enough room to easily change out magazines. .I'd prefer not to make the rifle top heavy extra tall mounts, and any fore-aft shifting of the scope to accommodate the wheel will be limited by eye relief issues. Thanks

"Scrufhunter"I have the UTG Swat 44mm with the 80mm sidewheel on medium mounts on my marauder and it does not get in the way there are a few pics on a thread I started in equipment I think that should give you an idea. 60vs80mm side wheel is what I think I named the thread
The magazine for the marauder goes in from the right side so the side wheel is on the opposite side. The OP seems to be asking about the S510 which has the magazine enter on the left side of the receiver. The side wheel will most definitely keep you from inserting or removing the mag on an S510. I just took a dremel and cut out a section of the side wheel that does not have the yardage markings on it so I could insert or remove my magazine without removing the wheel.

The way I cut mine I had to dial the wheel all the way to one side to remove the magazine. I dont remember if it was towards infinity or min parallax but it really doesnt matter which direction it needs to spin. I just made sure I didnt cut out any of the yardage markings on the wheel. I then used rubber polishing bits in my dremel to polish the cut area to make it nice and smooth and painted it black.

The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to abandon the idea of fitting a focus wheel. I've done a bit of fiddling around with scissors, an old CD, and a bit of double sided tape to make up a mock wheel. Because my focus knob goes through almost 360 from infinity to 15 M, the only configuration that allows 100% access to the magazine leaves barely a 1/4 of a disk. I'm not willing to accept the idea of having to re-focusing with each mag change since it thoroughly defeats the purpose of having a wheel.

I suppose I could go to taller scope mounts, but that's a move with compromises of its own.

I never found it an issue. I would rotate my wheel remove mag then put it back on the needed setting if I was still shooting at the same distance. But if you dont like that then I agree just run it without a wheel. None of my firearms scopes have large wheels and since I use those scopes instead of typical airgun scopes like hawke and utg on my airrifles now none of my air rifles have large wheels. I dont see the need for the large wheels on scopes but some do.
