Predator GTO 11.75gr- Amazing Accuracy!

I'very been soooo impressed by Predator GTO accuracy that I've got to share my experience. I recently bought a semi auto pcp and found these work like a dream. These other two pellets were my top two performers in this particular gun (out of 10 others) but GTO absolutely blew them away.

I shot 10 shot groups, at 25y, in 20-25mph wind with a 1x scope. My expectations were that the Predators would be blown off course. That was obviously not the case and all ten stacked in one hole. I could not believe it, so I investigated.

After some trail and error, I found that one of the biggest reason was the skirts and heads were not getting as bent up from the harder alloy. When I gently hand feed the two softer pellets the accuracy improved, while GTO's stay the same. I also noticed almost NONE of GTO skirts were bent out of the tin.

It too bad the price of Predator GTO is so steep and the weight of the alloy is so light. If they could figure out those two probs, these would be the only pellets I would ever buy.

Depending on you needs whether for hunting, plinking or target shooting 25 yards is pretty close for testing accuracy. If your accuracy at that distance meets you needs great, otherwise 50 yards is a better test. After that distance wind starts being a greater factor in shooting good groups. The Bullmaster looks like great fun though. Do you know if you if there is a carbon fiber tank out there that will fit that gun. That is a heavy weight rifle for sure. Bill

Yea, 25 yards is pretty close for that accuracy, but it is all I got right now. When squirrel hunting that is about where the average shot is from and with the GTO, it would be a head shot every time. The big thing the 25 yard test shows is that there was no flyers with the ammo. That's big in my opinion.

I'll bring it out to 50, 75 and 100 and see what happens later, like I always do, and post the results. So, far I'm liking the gun. Heavy but I carbon bottle can be placed on it. Both the Bullmaster's bottle and carbon fiber bottles have M18*1.5 metric threads. It is a simple process. It would save over a pound and take much of the nose weight off the gun, so it would prabably feel like two pounds lighter.

I've been still playing with these GTO ammo and think I found my new SQUIRREL hunting round. I shot the GTO and put a few holes in my floor. I have a 330 page hard cover book that I use for trapping the pellets during a chronograph string. It usually stops lead hollow points easy. I thought that because it is half the weight of others, it would slow fast.-wrong! 12 rounds tore through the book, the carpet, padding then slammed into the concrete floor underneath. When I pulled them out, they were barely damaged! Only noticable damage was the from the barrel groves. Interesting I would say.

Heavy lead rounds and hollow points are always nice, but a hard, light round also has its benifits. Here are my thoughts and observations:

1)GTOs do not get chew up from the barrel as much (less of a dirty barrel and seems to help accuracy)
2) flat trajectory. You can pretty hold on zero from 18 to 45 yards (97% of all my shots when squirrel hunting are under 40 years). The flat trajectory also help avoid hitting tree branches.
3) I you have lower power gun, the hard alloy will "crack" skull and "bust" through a squirrel's brain and cause just as much damage as a hp, I think.
4) A gun or animal will not never be contaminated by lead.
5) These GTO have no flyers! I've shot many group 25-35 year this winter and have NONE! Not one shot was from a bad pellet.

The only disadvantage from 11.75gr GTO's are they are very affected by the wind. With a .023 bc, the will be worthless in windy conditions. But if you squirrel hunt in a thick protected woods and at close range, who cares if it is windy? Even if you do want to shoot them at 75-100 in zero wind condtions, they have less than 10 ft/lbs of energy anyway at that point and falling fast. Still worthless in my opinion.

Benifets clearly outway the disadvantage for me. I think GTOs will be my new round for close range. Thoughts?
