One hunters scope cam quest

One of the things that make anything we do more enjoyable is to share it with like-minded folks. That sharing can be for many reasons, for some it's the bragging right for others it is educational or tutorial, either way, the experience is shared. Over my many years of shooting, hunting or plinking there have been shots or sessions that I wish I had captured because without a photo or video it's just a tale. No matter what way I captured an event I was always unhappy with some aspect of the image or video. I quickly found that it was because the viewer was not seeing exactly what I was seeing. This was the beginning of my quest for a superior scope camera mount that would allow me to share exactly what I was seeing through my perspective.

Please come with me on this journey which has been substantially compressed in this short 20-minute video which again is my attempt to take you along for the ride on my quest for the best scope camera mount platform.

During the making of this video, I use a segment from a previous video I made where I discuss a BlueTooth trigger for the iPhone mount I made. If you have a hard time hearing what is being said in that video segment, you can watch that video here.

Enjoy folks!

"huntingjeff"Will you be selling the go pro 4 mount?
Jeff, I will not be selling a completed GoPro scope cam mount. But if you go to description of the Scope cam quest video you will see I provided all the links so you can build that sucka yourself! Woo Hoo!

As for actuation of the Hero 4, Please see the below annotated photo below that shows the waterpoof case for the Hero 4 Black has buttons to access all camera fuctions while the camera is in the case or you can utilize the built in bluetooth and use a selfie remote to activate the camera.

Thank you for the comments!

Thats a very nice and compact setup. The eye piece is the most expensive part if you already have a Go-pro, and i wish it had an universal way of connecting to different scopes. The accutact can be found on Ebay for around $24. It works on the same principle as the Torrey Pines eagle eye. Of course the eagle eyes will cost you around $1,200. Great video Hajimoto

I aboslutey love the concept and like you, just wish the 3D printed piece could be ordered with the ability to fit different scope sizes. I will be working on a method for that and will share the results. Thank you for the comment!

May I suggest?
There are plumbing fixtures that are set up to be universal they do this by stair stepping down each size, you simply cut off down to the section that has the right diameter

Yes the plumbing fitting works well but has a pretty crude attachement method that requires a clamp. Please take a look at the photo below of the GLine scope cam adapter. I think this would be a much cleaner install. What do you think?

"Willie14228"So, is it like a tension fitting or chuck where you slip it in then as you screw it down it shrinks the rubber fitting down tighter?
You got it. I could buy a version from another manufacturer for $49 US but I am concerned about the eye relief. See below image and here is a LINK

I use a night vision spotting scope in front of my scope, I've found that I can close up my eye relief to a point at least using the eye focus ring as it screws in and out of my scope giving me a relief change of a little less than a 1/2 inch.
But i see what you mean.
The only way I could see to battle it would be to have the back section be able to slide forward or backward. I am on my phone so I don't have a way to edit photos to demo what I mean.
Another issue that I see is like my scope the dioper (i think that's what it is called) focus wheel is knobbed and slightly larger than the scope itself there is maybe a 1/4 ring behind it but that would not be enough to get a bite on it. A lot of scopes has that set up and this means that the adapter has to slide over the focus ring and tighten down on the bell in front of the ring
I will P.M you my.number always like to brain storm your welcome to call me anytime we can bounce some ideas around and see what sticks on the wall
