No-Bounce Hammer

I'm new at this and have been watching you tube videos fast and furious trying to learn. I just started with a Gamo Swarm Maxxim and I may never get beyond that. But maybe will, who knows. Whichever more knowledge is a good thing. But I realize that not all YT info is good info but I did see something about hammer bounce that seemed to make sense.......that lack of it can extend, or stop the waste of, air tank supply. I've been looking at specific gun info, including those you mentioned, but couldn't find any mention of floating hammers. Thus, my question.

While I said I may never get beyond my present gun, I have found two local dive shops (LOL).

Check out the Brocock Compatto. This is the description of it on the Airgun Depot Website....Brocock Compatto fitted with the updated Slingshot Hammer System redesigned for the Compatto. The Slingshot Hammer system eliminates valve bounce and produces more consistent valve pressure release which results in both efficient use of air as well as more consistent shots. Basically, this means you get similar results to having an internal regulator without the additional cost. The results are more shots per fill and higher power than standard hammer systems.

The Wicked Air Rifle guns have a new valve called the Cobra that has no hammer bounce, but it eliminates the bounce from the inside of the valve as opposed to managing the bounce of the hammer (although I notice that they also still use a floating hammer design as well). The Cobra ships standard on their guns new guns. I just upgraded my Flex's valve to this new valve, but I haven't tried it yet.

I think the day is coming where significant hammer bounce will be a thing of the past on many quality airguns, although the manufacturers will get there by radically different means from one another.

I've been using homemade SSDs on my Marauders for a while with good results.

Believe it or not the Benjamin Maximus has a hammer that is under no spring tension until you cock the bolt, just like the FX hammer system, you can hear the hammer sliding back and forth ever so slightly when you shake the rifle. I think That contributes to a very low extreme spread, and maybe a few more shots, can't get much more with such a low fill pressure.

While bounce is bounce ( oh that will make sense to newbies) and worth thinking about.

Have you gotten a good grasp on regulators? THE increase in efficiency for airguns, honest. Not that you can not/will not have hammer/striker bounce if not "tuned" for the reg, but bounce or not a regulator will help shot count and extreme spread much more than a no-bounce hammer/striker and NO regulator.

Airgunners in your area? Have you looked at and listed yourself on the members map? You can learn more in one day hands on than a year of tubing.
