nitpicking the community: foot-pound energy symbol

"HauntedMyst"We need a new system since none of them work for airguns. Joules just sounds silly. Foot pound is equally ridiculous and Feet Per Second is equally useless without other data.

I suggest a new system called AKA - @ss Kicking Ability

@KA Level 1 Squirrel
@KA Level 2 Raccoon
@KA Level 3 Pig
@KA Level 4 Deer
@KA Level 5 Moose
@KA Level 6 Elephant
etc...
@KA Level 20 Hiroshima

I like your way of thinking. What level for a terrorist??????

I don't care who you are... That's just plain funny.

When writing about capitals - try these sentence-starters:
". yeah, the Joule (symbol: J) is the SI unit of energy.  it’s what we mostly use in science.", and: ". using the formula for kinetic energy. energy = 1/2 * ...", ". it’s spelled incorrectly, among other places, ..." etc.

Not CO2 either, the "2" should be subscript.

Now about that soda can; the time that I shot at one it seemed to take just one shot and the whole can erupted into gas. But then it was shaken up and hit with about 60 J.

And the use of brackets in maths is out of hand too. Check this out:
= (volume of water (in mL)) * (4.186 J / (mL of water * °C of change)) * (temperature change)

Then the subject of units has me wondering about that unit in mL with which to multiple the volume of water?
Still, I'm no model - must get hold of a Webster, and a USA math/physics text. Whoops that forward slash doesn't mean -:- :-( .

Nitpicking is so rewarding and educational. It should be taught in junior high and trended on Facebook? ... Best regards to all the good guys/dolls. Oops again! That guys/dolls could have a double meaning :-( ........... Harry. ((Oops (verb?)) or should it be (Oops*verb?).
OK enough already. ... Someone please put a verb in that ..............

OK guys, since it is nitpicking I have mine from here in the south land of NC. it is not on air gun or mathematical nomenclature, but it does exhaust my ENERGY LOL. Mine is when someone gives out change here they say,"your change is fifty cent".....WHAT?
That is plural,... it is fifty cents....!!!!! If you had a Franklin half dollar it is a fifty cent PIECE, and money value of fifty cents American coinage...not fifty cent!

If you hold two quarters in your hand and ask how much money is in your hand, the response would be "Fifty cent". But since I am a Yankee transplant, I live with the minor irritation. Next I guess I will start saying Ya'll soon...Its been 12 years and it is taking a loong time to take hold..LOL

Bear in mind this replay is all in good fun, as we from the north have our own misnomers like, Youse guys.....and others.....

My pet pieve is the pronunciation of the words Wash and Mayonaise in Indiana. Where is the "r" in wash pronounce worsh and the extra "n" in mayonaise pronounced mannaise. I grew up in Northern Indiana and when I went to school in the central part of the state this is how everyone talked. The funy thing was they use to tell me I talked funny due to the "Chicago accent". LOL

Being an engineer whose college professors had a serious hard on for units and unit conersions, ft/lbs bothers me as well.

I do however like the AKA system for the walmart type air rifles where most people rely on fps to make a decision when really it's meaningless without supporting info. Ideally I think FPE and an appropriate scale (what will xx FPE take down ethically at xx range) should be used.
