New way of tunning going Viral!!! SSG mod...

I am by no means a technical airgun guru. I did read through the referenced thread, and it appears that SSG is a sort of new "flying hammer" design that can achieve airgun nirvana - It improves efficiency by killing hammer bounce and improves shot-to-shot deviation by avoiding friction and striking more consistently. The beauty is that it appears that a commercial drop-in product may be viable, and that it could make rifle performance tuning considerably faster and easier. The viability of a drop-in will probably vary from platform to platform.

I also found the .25 marauder example intriguing because I have a box-stock gen 1 .25 Marauder set to 37fpe, and I get 16-20 (I forget now) shots within 3%. This is certainly an idea with merit.

Would any more technical folks like to jump in now and correct what I screwed up?

Greg, This is something totally different than what FX uses.

I finally had time to build a very rough prototype today and tested on my wifes .177 Marauder. I just switched pellets and without tuning for the new 10.5gr pellets was getting 50 shots at 905fps avg. By simply adding an ssg, I got 90 shots at 909fps. My ES did climb from 16 to 31fps, but my prototype is crude to say the least. I am very confident that with a little work my finished SSG will work even smoother and reduce my ES back down to 20 or less. Bob Sterne the GTA member responsible for bringing this to light needs alot of credit and praise for his continual efforts in the airgunning world. Bob is the real deal and because of his work and the efforts of guys like motorhead(Scott) and Travis from WAR, this SSG is proving to be a huge gain for tuners and hobbyists alike!!

I'm still waiting for clarification on the shot count and the caliber of the gun used in the chrony results listed at the link above. The 50+ shots blows my mind. Someone mentioned that the FPE was low for a .25 Marauder, but it's higher than for a .22 Marauder. So either it's a super powerful and efficient .22 or it's an under powered but super efficient .25. Either way, I'm interested.

"Dropped in the RSTERNE SSG made NO adjustments and ran a string. As you can see there is room for improvement but FAR better than stock by a long shot. This is a bone stock Marauder .25 with SSG only."
