New USARB 25 meter Target thread

"Strever"Perc
the ONLY way to really test barrels or pellets & you is to shoot indoors at any distance approx 25 yds or more
then you KNOW an unseen wind isn't influencing the shot if the heater isn't blowing :)
flyers do happen indoors also :)
and they are either bad pellet or lead in the barrel
it just seems hard to find a place indoors to test doesn't it ?

Dick

Actually I joined the Scottsdale Gun Club this last weekend for two reasons, one as you state to test pellets and second so I can spend as much time shooting as I want this summer. With temps the last couple of weeks in the "one tens" it's hard to get out an shoot more than you sweat lol. Even at the crack of dawn it's in the 90s. We won't see any significant change till late September.

Looking forward to full AC inside shooting :)

Hey Guys, been awhile, been very busy!, this is a very interesting subject for me right now, been experimenting myself last couple days trying to find right head dia., cleaning regiments, Etc., for each barrel standard & poly! (rethinking head dia. For standard LW) having some unexplained fliers myself!, but got me thinking again about eccentricity & concentricity issues with pellets, eccentricity within pellets I'm not sure there is a way to measure that? Or correct it? As of now anyway , concentricity ( making sure pellet is aligned with bore when seated is probably less of a problem? Expecially with the RAW guns!!! Shameless plug! Your welcome Martin...) maybe someone with more experience than I can weigh in here? Your input is most welcome. By the way I've been testing different weights .1 to .3 gr. & .01-.02 head dia. Results were surprising!, there wasn't much if any differences? MAYBE IT JUST TELLS ME I CAN'T SHOOT😞

I have tested indoors, but can only get 17yds in my basement!( wish I could get @ least 25yds ) I do know that damaged heads etc. i can quantify, I've purposely tried to seat pellets at a angle or not concentric to bore with varied results? Actually very hard to do with a RAW W/ their probe design! But what I can't measure is if the rotating mass of pellet is true or if it's actually rotating around it's center axis?, I'm no engineer or even that smart! So some of my terminology may not be correct, just stuff rolling around in my head(pun intended!) any input is helpful though, I know most of you have far more experience & knowledge than I!

Shot my first 250 (12x) outside this morning. Wind was around 3 - 7 mph from all over the place. Mostly behing and right though. I could tell just by looking at this particular batch of pellets that they were good. Nice matt finish and very uniform with non-dented and nice thick skirts. Would love to have a sleeve of these!! BTW, the pellet is JSB 13.43, 4.54.
Tried some other JSB 13.43, 4.54 pellets that looked different and on the next two cards I got a 247 and a 243 with a definite flier giving me an 8 on one shot.
