Need help with selecting scope

I'm burning my eyeballs to raisins searching for a scope to use strictly for 25 yard benchrest. The only real experience with scopes is with my Sightron SIII 10-50x60 with a fine crosshairs reticle, which will be used with another rifle at 75 - 100 yards. I don't want to spend that much again for another scope and was hoping to keep the cost below $500. The SWFA scope that JoeWayneRhea reviewed sounds good but I prefer a reticle less cluttered. Any suggestions?

So far I'm leaning in the direction of the following scopes.

Sightron SII 36x42
Has just about everything I want except FCH reticle

Weaver T-Series 36-40
Has the fine crosshair reticle but reviews question Weaver's warranty and glass clarity next to Sightron

Leupold competition model or ?
I would like to get a Leupold in fixed magnification even if I have to pay a little more but they are more than twice the price of the above.

The SWFA is tempting but I don't really like the reticles offered.

Athlon - I couldn't find anything in their line with fixed magnification.

To me I like the fixed Weaver target scopes . Not as bright as a Leupold but for dedicated BR shooting its plenty bright . Can't remember if it was Natchez or Optics Planet but one of them had them on sale .
Don't worry bout Weavers warranty . I sent one in that had been damaged on the side turret when the gun fell off the bench . They fixed it for free and paid return shipping .
Also check Benchrest Central classifieds . Lot of guys there that have some nice scopes for fair prices . You can probably pick up a used 36 Leupold for tthe price you are talking about if patient

"JoeWayneRhea"I believe ( not 1000%/positive) the Leupold 36 goes down to 50ft . Ask ahead t time from seller to be sure
Thanks again JWR! It looks like the Leupold 36 can focus down to 50 ft based on responses received from a few sellers. These must be popular scopes because some of those that I looked at yesterday are already sold.

I have a lot of scopes including a Sightron SIII 10-50 with fine crosshairs. This is the best you can get, in my estimation. I've even compared this to Nightforces and Marches. Sightron is better at less than half the cost.

My second choice for 25M benchrest is a Mueller 8-32X44 Target Dot. Surprisingly, the glass is better than most $500 scopes and the thickness of the cross hairs is just right. I have two of them and won't part with either. For about $250, you can't go wrong.

I have a Sightron SIII 10-50 with fine crosshairs and agree that it's a nice scope. It sits on my RAW HM1000X. I wanted to check out the Mueller scopes but my virus protection won't let me enter their website because of some alert. I'm fairly settled on the Leupold 36 if I can find one at a reasonable price.

Yes, for some reason, I can't get into their website either. Go on Optics Planet and find info there.
