Need help identifying a problem, possible coyote? (graphic)

First a little background. A friend and co-worker has had issues for the last few years with raccoons raiding his garbage cans. I've tried a few times after doing some minor yard work there to get rid of them but haven't had a sighting. His wife thought the smaller ones were cute, and was willing to put up with the mess until one recently tried getting past her storm door. After which she has decided enough was enough and it was time for the bandits to take a permanent hike by any means necessary. So I brought out two dog proof raccoon traps and went with my tried and true payday candy bar bait. Normally I don't use traps, but with my current time constraints its been necessary.

Tonight I went back and discovered one trap was completely gone. The other had a raccoon in it, or rather half a raccoon in it. I need help figuring out what could do this. What ever it was ripped a 18 inch rebar stake from the ground to steal the raccoon, and has done this kind of damage to the other one. This was done less than 20yds from the back of his home.

I am surprised no one heard it being so close to the house. Also there is no blood on the raccoons face. They are fierce fighters.Weird. I would have to say a coyote. But after you find the other trap I would set it up again and also set up a trail camera. This way you know what it is and what time to be waiting with your rifle. If she has any pets she better be careful. Good luck. Sounds like a fun Friday and Saturday night to me.

Well it looks like I have to find a new method for trapping the little trash panda's at my co-workers place. A neighbor of his complained and the local control agency came out and informed my co-worker that his house was just inside the city limits along with the dog-proof traps being too inhumane to be used in the limits. Needless to say it looks like if I intend to remove anymore it has to be done with a trap that's approved of, or I'm going to have to forcibly make time to stake out his backyard in a position his neighbors can't see from.

All I know is this, a cage trap ain't my cup of tea. Last thing I need to do is have an angry raccoon getting loose in the back of my Jeep while transporting it to its final destination...

"Trash Panda" LoL. Dealing with those myself. Mine are Coleman Pandas. Going to see if dog proof paw trap works; got it baited with store processed Rice Krispy treats and peanut butter. Screwed chain to deck. Un-sporting but I'm past that with these bandits.

Put a trail cam up!! In case you didnt see the others say so.

Edit: same young coon came by 5 minutes past the time as night before, paw stuck in the trap. Used Wildcat to put one H&N in the noodle and another in chest. Baited it with a mini RiceKrispy treat (gross store kind) and a touch of peanut butter for scent.
