My brand new Mrod leaks

Hi everyone. I'm new to PCP rifles and got my new mrod in a few days ago. Finally got around to charging it. Knowing the leak issues with these guns, I charged it and let it sit for a few hours. Came back to find the gauge reading 1500ish psi. Tried to exchange for another, but seller (Midway) was out of stock (not sure when one will be available). I've read some post about replacing o-rings and that should fix the issue. Should I attempt to fix myself or just get a refund? I am handy with tools.

Get some leak detector, or make some with a little dish detergent and a spray or dropper bottle. If you can find the leak it will be much easier to diagnosis where you can fix it yourself. MRods usually leak at the gauge or the fill nipple, both easy fixes if it's either of those.

At the very least a new gun should initially hold air. Mrods' are though fairly easy to work on, though be forewarned, they're addictive once you go inside.

I wish they would upgrade their orings and just eliminate these type issues from jump.

But I digress, .22 or .25?

.22 I'm probably sending it back....25 I'm probably just going to fix it myself, bitch and moan and see what I can get Midway to give me for the inconvenience.

you can find orings at hardware stores but they are not as good as if you order the 70+duro orings from here

"NavyKayakGuy"Thanks for the advice everyone. I watched some youtube vids on disassembly and seal replacement. Looks pretty easy. No specialized tools. Can I use o-rings from home improvement or automotive stores or do I need mrod specific o-rings? I have lube that came with my hill pump. Can I use that or is there something better?
Yes you can use the HD or Lowe's o-rings, but the #'s will likely be different then listed in the chart. You will have to match the measurements.

Home Depot sells Danco o-rings and the Danco 113 is 2-3/4 in. OD x 2-3/8 in. ID x 3/16 in. wall thickness

The 113 o-rings listed in the parts is actually 3/4 in. OD x 9/16 in. ID x 3/32 in. wall thickness

So I think the Danco #11 is the same as the Standard -113 o-ring.

Good for you! Just saw your post so I am a little late to the party. You did the right thing. For less than a dollars worth of o-rings you just fixed your rifle and learned how to do it yourself forever. The marauder is so darn simple it would be stupid to send it back back and wait around when you can do it yourself for almost free and less time then boxing it up and taking it to the post office. I am not excusing a manufacturer from sending out a leaking gun rifle but the silver lining is they did you a favor because now you are empowered.

Back story to this is my friend's Marauder. My friend bought a Marauder and the first week the poppet valve broke. He was pissed and was going to send it back to Crosman. I told him not to do that and give the rifle to me. I had never taken a PCP apart and had no clue what was wrong. I took it apart a little at a time until I had the valve apart and found the broken poppet valve. For a few bucks a new poppet valve was in my hands and the rifle has well over 100,000 shots thru (that's no BS) since then. From that experience I now work on many Marauders (I run an airgun range and FT matches) with no fear. I have even given classes at my range on how the marauder works where we disassemble and put them back together. Had I not taken that first Marauder apart I would have never known.
