My AC/DC gun...

BIG GUN! My Winchester 1400cs in .177cal is nearly 52" long & 9lbs+ with the 3-9x32 factory scope. It doesn't say anywhere who made the scope? It has a 23" fluted barrel with suppressor. Kinda makes it look like a .338 Lapua Magnum or something. One guy actually asked me that once. lol. I've since found that the stock scope mounts are still lacking about 1 1/2" of proper eye relief. So I'll see if I can find an offset scope rail with 4-bolts? After finally getting my Dewy 26" nylon coated, ball bearing-handled .17/.177cal cleaning rod, I cleaned the bore for the first time. Shooting it with Beeman silver arrow pellets @ 10.5gr, it kicked like a mule & barked like a dinosaur. Kicked a lot like I remember the Carcano kicking that dad brought back from the war. Anyway, here's some pics for your visual gratification...

Nice little cover for the spear tip on the jag too. The grooved area just above the spear tip makes the patches more closely match bore diameter for better cleaning, & the ball bearing handle combines with that to follow/clean the rifling rather well.

 Okay, finally some new info on this big honkin' gun. I did a new video on Youtube where I weighed the rifles. This one is actually 10lbs, 6.69ozs! I set up my backstop & new Caldwell deluxe chronograph with IR LED's yesterday to test my three guns. ( there's a TV show in there somewhere?) Kenny @ " myairgunreviews" got an average of 1410FPS with a 5.2gr pellet in this so-called " magnum" air rifle. I tested three different pellets from the lighter of the two Straight Shooters boxes of .177 pellets. Here are the numbers I got;
JSB Straton, 8.44gr Beeman Laser, 6.5gr JSB Express, 7.82gr (Straight Shooter's label is a typo. Actual weight 7.87gr)
815 1,156 1,081
868 1,146 1,074
732 1,146 872
706 1,119 1,066
797 1,134 662
726 1,106 1.057
Average velocity of six shots-
774FPS 1,134.5FPS 968.67FPS
It surprised me how much different only a slight change in weight made to individual velocities? Although, the rifle still smoked after every shot, even though I cleaned it beforehand. And with the last couple shots, it started blowing puffs of smoke under the breech seal area of the fore end of the stock. Needs a new breech seal already. And I oiled it too? Video

These breech seals finally came in the other day after bad tracking numbers, etc. Had to use a paring knife, small pocket screwdriver & a mallet to R&R the breech seal. The breech seal land is a very tight fit, and had to be pried out evenly with the knife & screwdriver. Cleaned seal land with a Qutip soaked in Pellgun oil, then coated the seal with it & tapped it in with a small mallet & a 3/4 inch diameter dowel rod. Left a bit more sticking out to let it settle into the sweet spot. Shot two Beeman Silver Bear pellets through it., Noticeably louder & kicked harder, so I'll call this operation a success. We'll see how the chrono numbers come out...

Why are all my pics turned to boxed "X's"? I didn't change anything in photobucket? What gives? Anyway, After installing the new breech seal, and cleaning the barrel bore again, I finally got to test three different pellets I'd bought for this rifle. I also figured out how to best utilize the Caldwell Chronograph APP for my new Galaxy J3 phone. The little cell phone stand came with some other desk supplies my wife gifted me to go with my new desk and computer. Handy, simple little gadget. I also give all the chronograph numbers, pellet names/weights in the video as well. I hope these videos are of some value to all of you!

In this pic, you can see that the new Benjamin Trail NP XL725 .25cal is only about 2 inches shorter than the Winchester 1400cs .177 magnum to it's left. Both kick like lil mule and bark loud like a couple junk yard dogs! And the Trail did so with an H&N Silver Point 24.38gr. The Winchester 1400cs with JSB Exact Express 7.87gr.
