Meet the Botta's pocket gopher (Thomomys bottae). AKA pocket gopher

My friends citrus place is loaded with these Botta gophers. Prolific suckers, they breed 3 x a year. They dont come out of their hole much at all, occassionally they will stick half their melon out to grab a tender plant. Ive only popped one. I saw this 3 ft high plant shaking and then it disappeared down this guys hole. Minutes later he stuck his melon out to grab another one and I was ready at 10 yds with the FX Wildcat .25. Ive had to go to the traps and the VarmitGetter propane blaster to get in front of these dayum things. The use their choppers to dig their tunnels, claws are not used according to internet literature.

Anybody else have any gopher scalps?
