Massive vole hunt

Hello Airheads!

I am back from a long expedition where I hunted wild voles! They are fast and furious, just like the movie! I cultivated a section of my property where a chain-link fence butts up against a thick plant and ground cover strip, a perfect hiding place for voles, field mice, and chippers. on this hunt, I concentrated solely on voles and field mice on this expedition and I scored over 15 or so. I chronicle the elimination of 10 in a video that I have put together for your pest elimination viewing enjoyment.

Please remember, I do not get paid to make these videos, your comments and feedback are my compensation, please be generous!

Enjoy!

Thank you all for the kind words, I really do appreciate it.

cernunnos: LOL I know it seems like over kill but the 865FPS is where this weapon is the most accurate. It is the same setting that hit the 200-Yard Golf ball.
Barbarian: Because I am surrounded by woods, we have always had voles and field mice galore. I put black oil sun flower seeds down at obvious traffic locations for 3 days and I was able to determine which were the most active locations. then no seed for 2 days and seed only when looking to shoot.

I see, I too have a thick nasty 6 acre patch of woods at the edge of my yard and want to duplicate. I hear and see occasional chipmunks but no rats or voles or what ever those bastages are. Do you have deer? I have lots of deer and think they'll prob inhale the seeds overnight. I also noticed you have hella cylinder block stacked for little munk condos. It's pretty when a guy wants a plethora of rodents arround the house. Shhhhh. My wife would kill me if she knew what I was up too. 🐀

Hajimoto,

Love your channel, it is obvious you put a lot of time effort and thought in producing your videos... I love them! Quick question, are you still using the GoPro hero 4 with the custom eye piece and 90 degree two way mirror? I have just ordered the parts to do this build and am excited to try it out. I love how rock solid your video is during fire. Any insight on the build? I watched your video on the process and watched the links including the focus adjustment on the Go Pro 4. The only thing I am unclear about is how you mounted the 90 degree mirror into the 3D printed mount? Is it glued in? If you had to build another one would you do anything different? Is the Go Pro Hero 5 a good candidate? What is your go to setting in the GoPro Hero 4? Narrow and 720p 240 fps? Thanks for your help and keep up the great work on your channel!

I am really sorry for the delay but real life jumped all up in my play time! Ok I will start from the top down:
  1. Thank you for the kind words and I am glad that you enjoy my content.
  2. Yes, I am still using the GoPro Hero 4 Black and the Hajimoto Scope Cam Assembly.
  3. The prism is friction wedge fit into the 3D printed assembly using thin strips of Black ABS plastic as shim material.
  4. I would invest in a better attachment to the scopes eye piece. I will be using this in the future: http://www.discovery-optics.com/index.php?m=Product&a=show&id=155
  5. The GoPro 5 has a completely different lens configuration and I am not sure you can adjust the focus like I have on GoPro 3's and 4's.
  6. GoPro setting is 1080P N 120FPS. I just bought an 8mm lens which will allow me to have even clearer captures because I will not need to zoom in so much on the scope image in my videos.
    [/LIST=1]
I hope I did not miss anything!

"bcharlett"Awesome thank you Hajimoto! So the 8 mm lense replaced the lens in the GoPro so you don't have to fine tune focal point? Do you have a link for for where you buy the 8 mm lens and the discovery optics in English?

The 8mm Lens is essentially a 2x magnification or telephoto lens. This allows for a larger image in the MP4 and increases the fidelity rather than being force to enlarge the image in my video editing software. (See example below)

Please understand that the Discovery adapter is in response to your question of "If you had to build another one would you do anything different? " and something that I would look into utilizing if I wanted to have a more versatile build. The issue I have is, most of the scopes I have are equipped with illuminated reticles so this adapter would be forced to tighten on the relatively short space between the battery compartment and the eyepiece (see image below)

I hope this helps
