Contact your division of fisheries and wildlife. Massachusetts has a licensing program for wildlife control and certain animals require permits. There was an association called MAPAC that may have that information on their website as well but I don't know if it is still active.

You should also look up depradation orders, both federal and state. It's likely those other birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Act, thus certain steps are required before you pull the trigger on them.

I first stumbled across this list a few years ago. I saw that my state, NM, had grouse and squirrel as fair game with an air rifle. I didn't think this was true, so I contacted the state and they told me the information was incorrect. Last year they opened the squirrel and grouse season with pellet guns, because "there is a shortage of .22 ammo". The year before that I lobbied pretty hard to get them to let us use pellet guns, and when I met the head of the department this summer(we're good friends now) I told her I was the one who had pushed so hard to get pellet guns legalized for small game, and she knew who I was at that moment. I got both her sons hooked on PCP guns during that same camping trip, and I hope to speak with her about big bore air guns and big game. Where I'm going with this is: make sure you double check with your state first, and if you need something to get done just talk to the people you're working with, they're generally cool folks.
