Looking for feedback - FX Royale 400 shot string

Hi everyone,

I have had my Royale for about 2 months and had finally got a full shot string over the chrony. I'd say so far I have almost 1000 shots through it. I'm a little suprised at the rise in velocity. Starting fill was 220 bar and shot down to about 135 bar. I shot 8 mags of JSB 18.1 pellets from this fill (96 shots). It's also worth noting that this string was divided between two sessions. You can see that at shot 61.

This excel file was for 10-shot mags and the FX has 12-shot mags to I did some interpolating on the pressures below the 10-shot strings. I'm not sure what the RVA reference is so I ignored it. I figure the next full-tank chrony string I do will begin with a 200 bar fill.

Any thoughts, comments or suggestions would be appreciated!

those are real nice charts and strings great job,,,, the RVA stands for reverse variance assistance , its the inter stellar pressures of the barrels sonic and subsonic tensions,,,,im just kidding with you.... i been trying to look it up ... ,the charts you made are really are super thorough,,,, i hope your royale brings you many happy days of shooting good luck ,pat

Excellent data and nice curve. Apart from the curviness, the shots are very consistent in velocity (little variation shot-to -shot).
Filling between 2800 and 2200 would tame the extremes of the curve.
Tominco has just done a good vid on disassembly and maintainance.
There was a thread on reg install in February: http://www.airgunnation.com/topic/fx-royale-400-regulator-install/

Ha! Good one :) And I can't claim credit for the cart. I downloaded it from a GTA thread!

"Menttaliist"That looks exactly as a unregulated shot string, if your gun has a reg installed then you have a problem with it. If not, that's what you can expect. It's your job to choose your desired ES and pressures to work on, i would keep within 20fps for long range shots and 30fps to the closer ones, 50yds or less. Good luck and keep shooting :)

This gun *should* be regulated. It's a new model with CF bottle. I saw Tom's recent Royale servicing video and how he showed the vent hole on the bottom of the block. I'll check for that to confirm. I also just noticed that the ES calculations are just wrong in this sheet. It *should* have shown an ES of 80 fps vs 54 fps.

Regardless, it does seem like the 1st couple of shots after the fill (or sitting awhile - see the variance between shots 60 and 61) are low. I'd sure like to determine the cause of that...

Don't take the buttom hole as a refference. That hole is pre-drilled from the factory to make easier the process to install a reg when you want to, just drill that hole all the way though and you'll have the reg vent hole, so having that hole isn't ensuring anything

Menttaliist, that's a very important thing you say! In many comments I have seen that people recommend to look for the hole next to the pressure gauge to say if the gun has a regulator or not. Totally wrong! To know, you need to unscrew the bottle connector and actually see if the is a regulator or not...
And I agree, the shoot string definitely look like the gun is "self-regulated", and not containing a true regulator.
The good thing about the FC guns though, is that their self-regulation works very well!
