I’m excited about the prospects the new LabrRadar will afford me when my newly ordered unit arrives in a few weeks with it’s necessary accessories (Airgun Mic, USB battery pack and SD card., etc.). No ballesitic guru here, but I love the potential this technology may prove to provide. Mutiple data points for each and every projectile fired down range at varying assigned distances seems the ultimate in feeding this geeky poor sod. I currently have the Caldwell Chrony which for the most part has served me well. It can be a little finicky like most chronys and knock wood, I have yet to shoot mine with a stray pellet. I love the Caldwell software program making it so easy to work with and rename shot strings and do some calculations so effortlessly.
Excited as I am, I am concerned about about the fact LabRadar just puts out a simple .CSV file which, yes, can be loaded into any spreadsheet, but therein lies the rub. It’s just the raw data. One has to add their own calculations for manipulating much of that to be meaningful, or open up Chairgun, or Sterlok Pro and try and work from there. For such a sophisticated system, it seems woefully lacking they don’t even provide a working spreadsheet template incorporating some basic needed calculations for shot strings. Not to mention relegating the user to physically hand write on paper each and every change made such as power settings or say change in regulator pressure. It’s my understanding they will sometime in the future be doing something with it’s bluetooth built-in capability but they tell me that may be a long time coming.
It’s my understanding RSI’s Windows Shooting Lab software works with the new LabRadar but the last time I searched posts on the Yellow they didn’t feel it was much use for airguns. Maybe that’s changed as those posts are years old??? I can’t seem to get a hold of anyone at RSI to ask.
Do any of you using LabRadar have your own customized spreadsheet or know of anyone who does that might be willing to share or sell?
